Historia
Evelyn McTavish’s world came crashing down with the suicide of her fiancé. As she struggles to put her life back together and make a living from her art, she receives a call that her dog is about to be destroyed at the pound. Except she doesn’t own a dog. The shelter is adamant that the microchip embedded in the canine with her name and address makes it hers. Evelyn recognizes the dog as one owned by archaeologist John Coyote - she was commissioned to draw the two of them. The simple solution is to return the dog to his owner - but she arrives to discover John’s murdered body.

Grew on me
Revisado: 12-23-22
Wasn’t sure at first, about the story AND the reader, but both grew on me. I think the reader was a very good choice to bring the main character to life, made her very real. Overall, I enjoyed the story!

really good one
Revisado: 04-07-22
I love when I come across a really good. well done book , and this was one of them.. Very good reader, and I thought it was a very strong story.
I am always amazed when i look at all of the different reviews, all the same book, some people Love it and some people hate it, so it's not really the book as much as it is the different personalities of the listeners...that's kind of how I see it.
But I found this to be a really strong book and I totally enjoyed it

I loved it
Revisado: 03-17-22
I find it amazing as I look at other reviews of this same book, some people love it, some people hate it...and it's all the exact book...... I guess that's just different personalities of different people....but I find it ,,interesting.
Personally, I found this book to be a great one, I think the reader was absolutely great, you have to remember that you are listening to ONE person reading this book to you, she has amazingly different voices for each character in this story, each one totally different. you know, there are plenty of books out there that it makes not much difference if you read the book, or Listen to the book....this story is much more enjoyable to listen to, I think it adds tremendously to the characters. when you read the book, you are using your own minds voice, can't possibly bring these characters to life like Helen Duff did..A standing ovation to you Helen Duff!
Now about the story, the quick dust cover tells you what it's about, but this is so well written,,,,, let me put it to you this way.
A great drum solo ( i am a life long drummer ) but a great solo shouldn't and doesn't start out at 100 miles an hour, you start slow, lay down a solid foundation, and then keep building and building to a great conclusion !! and that's how this story is told, it just keeps building and building and gets stronger and stronger, ( i hope you sort of get that )
Sorry if you don't get that comparison, but that
s how I enjoyed it, loved it. For me , it was one of those books where i hated that it ended, i wanted to know MORE, Keep going!!
well , that 's my opinion of it..... Hope you also enjoy it as much as I did!

Loved it, but MUST explain why
Revisado: 10-24-21
I have purposely NOT read any one else's review of this book, because I want to get MY point across as best as I possibly can, without being influenced by another review. This might not be a standard review, because it covers actually MORE that just the book.
So First. I am a person that listens to a great many Audio books, I don't have time to sit and read, I listen while I drive...alot.... I hope I can make my point, and I f I do, i feel SURE that others will share the same opinion.
There are two types of Audio Book experiences that I have found to be true. The first one is....if the book is good and the reader is ...good, then the book was ok, BUT, I don't think the quality of the book was upgraded by getting the book in Audio Format rather than just reading the book and using your own minds reading voice as you read.
THEN, there is THIS type of book. In my opinion This book, was a very great story, Liane Moriarty, to me is a very smooth, detailed, enjoyable author, I have loved many of her books...BUT..... The READER of this book Caroline Lee, just makes this book a 100% fantastic , enjoyable experience . There is NO WAY that you get the same experience of this story by reading it to yourself!! Caroline Lee has a way of just bringing the characters to life, along with the Aussie accent, which all of the charters in this story are.
It's difficult to separate the magic here, The personalities of the characters are so well thought out and brought to life, but the reading of the story just REALLY brings this story to life.
I could go on, but I hope I made my point.
If you love a great Audio Book experience ....This is a great one.
I hope I did a good review job. I tried my best to make my point.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

another awesome experience
Revisado: 07-16-21
Catherine Steadman is just the best, I wish I could actually speak directly to her about this , but I can only do my best job right here. The thing about a great book is of course the story, but when you switch to an Audio book, there are more factors involved.
The audio book brings the story to life, very different that just reading it yourself where you can only use your own mind as the character voices.. My point is this...First , this is another very strong story, and since Catherine actually IS a professional actress a lot of the acting scenes in this book are from her actual experience , things she has actually done in real life. So it's very interesting on how things are done. But to me the amazing part of this experience is her performance, the reading of the story.
Catherine Steadman is the very best at bringing this story to life. What I just LOVE about her reading is her ability to change from her natural British accent , to American voices, even Regional dialect American voices, she is simply brilliant at this , and it just really brings the story and characters to life. I have listened to and enjoyed many audio books, but in my opinion this book AND "Something in the Water " are just at the top of the list , if you want a great experience with an Audio book!! Catherine Steadman is the one to go to!!

Too long
Revisado: 04-07-21
I’m not one to criticize, Lisa Jackson is a very good author. This story started strong in chapter one, but then it was hours of the same issue being repeated over and over and over with maybe one possibility brought in. It was very easy to know what was going to happen.
Not one for me ,at least

tough one for me
Revisado: 06-25-20
Ok, rarely write a review weather I love the book or not, but I had to in this case. it's kind of a two part set of comments. First is the story, same characters as the first book, same general premise , which I thought was a good first book...kind of a neat story, and as per usual, you kind of get used to the characters , you picture them, kind of feel like you know them.
This is the big problem with book two in this series...and believe me, I am NOT someone that likes to criticize someones work or performance , who am I to do that !
BUT.....!!! The reader of the second book has an extremely super DEEP bass, baritone voice, SUPER DEEP, and my point of this is, it completely changes the characters in the book, I also did not care for the readers cadence , just awkward, 100% different from the reader of book one, I have really had to struggle to keep listening to this book.
Also, they added a lot of sound effects to the story, again, at least to me......not well done, Just didn't work for me.
Not being mean, just giving my opinion and I WILL check who the reader is for book three, if it's the same guy....I will be done with this series.

not so good
Revisado: 02-19-20
I don't EVER write a bad review, who Am I to criticize someone else work? But...... I am a life long Star Trek fan, when I saw this Star Trek title, I thought, oh good, I will love a Star Trek book..
I have been forcing my way hour after hour with this book, I don't know a single character, even after all of this time listening, The story is just a mess and confusing. If I spoke to you in person, I really couldn't tell you what this story is about.
so sorry if the author reads this, but......this book didn't work for me, at all....I can't even finish it.

Revisado: 11-09-18
I always love to read an author’s first book, they wanted to do it for their whole life, well this one is an amazing story, the author is also the audio reader, Catherine’s performance is absolutely amazing. It’s not like listening to someone reading a book, it’s like she is talking to YOU, absolutely one of the very best books that I have ever enjoyed!!!
