Historia
Awe and exhilaration—along with heartbreak and mordant wit—abound in Lolita, which tells the story of the aging Humbert Humbert's obsession for the nymphet Dolores Haze. Lolita is also the story of a hypercivilized European colliding with the cheerful barbarism of postwar America.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 03-18-13
Growing up, Lolita was always one of those "taboo" books. After listening, I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. No swear words at all. Very well read. Not about a sexy young thing throwing herself around. Not really any sex in the book at all. I would recommend this to anyone willing to see a different point of view.

It has been many years since I originally read the Hobbit. I thought this reading was very well done. Interesting to listen to. The story, and time went by very quickly. Thank you.

Historia
The greatest short story writers strive to achieve a single, dramatic effect, a feature which the early masters of this genre perfected. Although the short story came from Europe, it was reborn in America and reached a pinnacle of superb form on these shores by the turn of the 20th century. In so many of our best writers, we hear echoes of a pioneer ethos that sustains the heart of a great literature. Here are 12 of America's best.

A good listen
Revisado: 11-30-12
Although I did not fully enjoy all the stories, (Poe for one), I enjoyed the idea of short stories. I would listen for an hour or so, then do something else. The perfomance was pleasant to listen to, and most of the stories were interesting.

Disappointing
Revisado: 09-10-12
After enjoying book 1, I was disappointed with book 2. Just more of the same , but less plot. Mostly boring, just hearing about having sex 2x a day. I decided to skip book 3, for now. I may pick it up at a later date.
