I find this a refreshing take on all the philosophy of existence. Veering dangerously close to AA but a worthwhile listed to the laying out of the basics therein.

Again, another slice of humanity you'd rather not see. But we are drawn in and follow till the end. Masterful storytelling

Louise has set this back in the three pines setting. The environs are as big a character and any other. She skillfully spins her tale and we get swept away for hours of listening pleasure. Mr. Bathurst does a splendid job at narrating the accents of those who tune in to Radio Canada like I did as a kid. Filled with characters you've come to know please devour and enjoy.

How does Kerr work Bernie Gunther into this tale of the actual beginning of the cold war. Which was in fact the division and isolation of Berlin as a city. Always compelling dialogue and more twists and turns than a carnival ride. Kerr has the skill to write the first page and make you fall into the abyss of the story. John Lee as usual voiced a remarkable performance

I am amazed that Kerr could write such a moving story what with my history with him and Bernie Gunther. A historical time that slipped by other authors Kerr paints truly the meager lives and robust hopefulness of the characters living under Nazi rule. Not least of which are the stunning horses that seek survival helped by understanding humans. Amazingly Kerr's detective style helps this story and builds suspense. Give it a listen.

It took me forever to start this book because it's Conrad. I've invested about 4 hours into it and I'm done. I am unable to follow any story line. Sure there is a mine and it produces silver and I got the lo-down on the dirt under the fingernails of the sixth fusalier in line. Conrad must have been on a contract to make this a LONG drawn out narrative... Yes Ms. so and so has a flat forehead and brown hair shimmering in the breeze as free as a lark in spring... Not just any lark but that lark that welcomes spring as an event from the heavens..... It can't be that complex....

So I went to return this for credit and I found that impossible as well. So beware..... go online somewhere and see if you are up to 17 hours rooted to your media player mistaking one Jose for another.

This is a long short story about remembering history when we actually were there. Fresh narrative rich with descriptions of the times gone by and how they never really leave us. A very pretty tale that your grandmother should read to you.

A funny light story about some odd folks. Very odd folks. Once you accept the premise and go with a bunch of fantasy it's funny. But NOT Shakespeare.

Both the subject and the style of creating this story is bright and cheerful. Ms Marcum avoids the pitfall of making the story autobiographical despite being the main character. She reports each character masterfully weaving them into the story of the Azores, California the diaspora and finding herself in love. You will enjoy this novel without feeling overwhelmed by the story.
