Favorite Grisham novel

I was introduced to John Grisham many years ago by reading this book. I have enjoyed many of his novels since. Listening to The Testament reminded me why this is my favorite Grisham novel.

Great character development

One of my favorite Jane Austin novels. I love Emma’s impulsive nature that develops over time of the book to be a little more guarded. It’s a sweet love story and also has people you “love to hate”.

Well written Christ centered novel

Most so called Christian novels I’ve read are predictable and mediocre literature. This book is a refreshing difference. The characters deal with real life issues and struggle with their faith as do most people at some point. I loved the book! Great narration.

Incredibly well told story

I liked Lea before I read her book but I LOVE her now. I have so much respect for her courage, perseverance and honesty in sharing her life in the cult of Scientology. The strength she showed in first of all questioning the requirements, and ultimately leaving Scientology shows a strength of character. Her loyalty and love for her family is amazing!

Intriguing and unique

I agree with some of the other reviews. It was a little slow to begin with but after a few chapters, I found as many opportunities I could to listen. This was a unique and well told story.

Interesting stories but too long

I enjoyed the first few stories but the more I listened, I found the authors voice to be boring and annoying. I also felt like many of the stories had too much repetition which made them too long. I didn’t finish the book.

Creative story telling

I have liked Harlan Coben books for over 10 years. His books always have unexpected twists and turns. I enjoyed the separate short stories in this book, especially as an audio book. My favorites were the Falcon and the last story about the Goshawk. The next to the last story was strange and I didn’t really understand the point of it.

Easy story to listen to

I drive a lot between my rural home and the nearest shopping. This was an easy listen where there a many interruptions and I could remember what happened before. Some surprises and intrigue.

Not Grishams best

These three stories kept me entertained while I was driving a long distance but I don’t recommend them. There was too much sadness, too much legal language and it wasn’t the best of John Grisham.

Moving, well told story

I am not a literary expert reviewer. But I think this was a well told story. From the first chapter, I was hooked and wanted to keep listening. A story about prejudices, lack of emotional honesty, parental expectations, unfulfilled dreams but also a story that inspired me to be more compassionate and understanding of others and their life choices, to allow people to become who they were created to be.
