Historia
What is masculinity? Ask ten men and you'll get ten vague, conflicting answers. Unlike any book of its kind, The Way of Men offers a simple, straightforward answer - without getting bogged down in religion, morality, or politics. It's a guide for understanding who men have been and the challenges men face today. The Way of Men captures the silent, stifling rage of men everywhere who find themselves at odds with the overregulated, overcivilized, politically correct modern world.

Some interesting quotes but mostly fluff
Revisado: 05-31-23
I heard several quotes from this book that were interesting enough to make me buy it but I was generally unimpressed. There was a lot of repetition and one liners directed at men that are not happy, feel marginalized, or powerless but I don’t think it offers much if you regularly get after if and are already a man. It’s short so ugh t be worth checking out if you’re looking for some introspection and critic of modern culture.

Best management book ever

So many of these books have no actionable information but are full of theoretical “it depends”. Principles is full of useful, practical common sense guidance.

Great intro to a wide range of topics.
Revisado: 04-16-22
This work covers a wide range of topics from scientific experimentation to game theory in an easy to follow lecture format. Some of the lectures refer to pictures or graphs but not enough to detract from the overall quality of the material. This is a good listen and might prompt you to watch the video.

Historia
From the heyday of Occupy Wall Street through Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign and beyond, young progressives have been increasingly drawn to socialist ideas. However, the movement’s goals need to be defined more sharply before it can effect real change on a national scale. Likewise, liberals and conservatives will benefit from a deeper understanding of the true nature of this ideology, whether they agree with it or not.

Not very convincing
Revisado: 08-31-21
The audio book is well read and entertaining but I was looking for a book that would convince me to change my mind with facts and examples to illustrate how socialism could work. This book was more an idealistic appeal to the readers emotions. Worth the time to hear the perspective from the other side.

Historia
Thomas Sowell takes a tough, factual look at whether the civil rights movement has lived up to its hopes or its rhetoric. In the decades since the historic Supreme Court decision on desegregation, who has gained and who has lost? Which of the assumptions behind the civil rights revolution have stood the test of time, and which have proven to be mistaken or even catastrophic to those who were supposed to be helped?

Another excellent Sowell book!
Revisado: 10-08-20
Thomas Sowell had back in the 80’s too! I love his by the facts approach and his in-depth style of writing. I had some initial misgivings about the relevance because of when this book was written but if he didn’t use so many dates I would have thought it was written last year. You can tell it was written by a younger Sowell if you’ve read a lot of his books but only because there’s a difference in the way it is written and maybe the reader’s voice.
The only thing I would add is a new forward or companion book that compared our current situation to the situation he writes about.

Historia
Invariably, armies are accused of preparing to fight the previous war. In Learning to Eat Soup with a Knife, Lieutenant Colonel John A. Nagl—a veteran of both Operation Desert Storm and the conflict in Iraq—considers the now crucial question of how armies adapt to changing circumstances during the course of conflicts for which they are initially unprepared.

Interesting topic but dry
Revisado: 09-25-20
I was looking for something that went more into the tactics involved in counter insurgency and their application. This book is more of a high level overview of the development of tactics without much time wasted on what those tactics were.

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Informative and interesting
Revisado: 09-25-20
Great book, Owens does an excellent job reading this book. It’s obvious from the emotion and inflection in her reading that she is the author. The book is full of facts to illustrate her points but also includes a lot of personal anecdotes that kept me engaged. There’s a definite Christian message which I can do without but it is not enough to turn off non Christians.
Highly recommend Black Out to anyone interested in the racial debate that’s overwhelming current affairs.

Historia
A captivating 24-lecture audio series on the US Constitution by award-winning law professor David L. Hudson Jr. Written more than 200 years ago, the Constitution remains the backbone of American government and an example of freedom and democracy the world over. Once called the “Miracle at Philadelphia,” it remains America’s vital governing force today. Your audio course will begin in the summer of 1787, as the Founding Fathers met to revise the Articles of Confederation, then explore the ratification process and James Madison’s championing of the Bill of Rights.

Great starter for understanding the constitution
Revisado: 07-15-20
The lecture series is a great way to structure this information, it’s broken up into 25 minute segments that are perfect for commutes. The speaker goes into a lot of detail about the origination of the constitution, amendments, and hand picked Supreme Court cases. The audio quality isn’t perfect when compared to the high production standards of audiobooks but it is good for the lecture format. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone interested in the constitution and our country.
