the story line could have held up without the explicit sex scenes. in fact the sex makes it appear more like a physical attraction rather than true love

Historia
Lady Vesper Lyndhurst is beautiful, clever, and popular. Afforded every luxury as a duke’s daughter, she fills her days with friends, intrigues, and a self-professed knack for matchmaking. She may have sworn off love for herself, but she is rather excellent at arranging it. Faced with an insolvent estate, the Duke of Greydon has no choice but to return to England in a final attempt to revive his family’s fortunes. He’s been gone for years, happy to have escaped his mother and the petty circles of the ton. To his dismay, not much has changed, including the beautiful heiress next door.

Predictable and unrealistic
Revisado: 11-18-23
If you're going to write about the regency time period then write about it realistically. Placing modern day actions and morals during that time period is annoying and takes away why we want to read about that time period. If you can't write an interesting book without explicit sex and/or gay overtures then take some more writing classes.

Oh no!
Revisado: 11-17-23
The first part was good and could have built something great off of that but it's almost as though the author decided that Abi had to have an equal adventure as her brother and had to leave the city in order to have it! After that It just felt like, how can Abi's adventure out-do Peregrine's. I would think it's a terrible way to write a story. It was like when Hollywood tries to make a sequel and fails miserably. I'm worried that book three will be another "let's take all the good stuff from books 1 & 2 and write book 3. I didn't enjoy most of this book and don't know if I will bother reading book three.

Why does every story have to have a gay or lesbian character in it? There was absolutely no reason why Mr. Hammond's character had to be gay, it has nothing to do with the story!!!!

Not even close to Amish
Revisado: 06-25-23
I tried , , , I really tried to push past all the obvious non-Amish characters, lifestyle and situations this book presents but . . . really!!! An Amish mom discouraging her daughter from caring for Amish kids, to NOT keep her word, and to seek her own comfort. Meanwhile, her Amish dad doesn't encourage his daughter to do what's right or wrong he just "knows she'll do the right thing" . Oh, and let's not forget the best friend who hears the gossip about her friend's unrighteous dumping her fiance but doesn't defend her but instead tries to set her up with another man within a couple of weeks after the breakup! I'm sorry but this book is just too much of a bad fairytale, even for someone like me who likes fairytales!!
The second book is equally ridiculous with a father who takes his daughter hunting and fishing and leaves the son at home, an Amish man attracted to a girl who knows more about turkey hunting and fishing than he knows about practically anything. Ah no!! Just NO.

Does Irish always have to mean misery?
Revisado: 05-13-23
This book starts off sad, and then gets sadder, and then turns miserable. But wait . . . then it becomes tragic. Unfortunately there was no part of this book that made me feel good or happy or content. Please don't waste your credit.

Revisado: 05-03-23
I hate it when a book is written during a historical period but the story reflects current day wokeness mixed with period history bigotness. Either write a book about current day ideology or write a book about period history but mixing them together is just annoying. I'm requesting my credit back!!

Sad on top of sad

I realize life is not a bowl of cherries but it would have been not so depressing if there was a little more emphasis on joy or contentment or peace.
