Historia
Although hints of a crisis appeared as early as the 1570s, the temperature by the end of the 16th century plummeted so drastically that Mediterranean harbors were covered with ice, birds literally dropped out of the sky, and "frost fairs" were erected on a frozen Thames - with kiosks, taverns, and even brothels that become a semi-permanent part of the city. Recounting the deep legacy and far-ranging consequences of this "Little Ice Age", acclaimed historian Philipp Blom reveals how the European landscape had subtly, but ineradicably, changed by the mid-17th century.

A Historical review
Revisado: 10-15-24
This was mostly a review of the era and less of an explanation or specific story of the “Little Ice Age” of Europe. Nevertheless it was a fine review and brought me back to my university studies of the era. Well read and clearly written if not a bit of a ramble.

Historia
In the wake of a humbling incident aboard a canal boat in the Cotswolds, young Captain Horatio Hornblower arrives in London to take command of the Atropos, a 22-gun sloop barely large enough to require a captain. Her first assignment under Hornblower's command is as flagship for the funeral procession of Lord Nelson.

Reader is not right for this story
Revisado: 12-12-22
The story is great but the performance was marred by the poor choice of reader. The reading was sonorous and void of inflection, some of the words were mispronounced-regular English terms- and I had difficulty not falling asleep due to his voice. Speeding up the playback to 1.1 x speed helped it be tolerable.
