Why is this relationship so hard? It is so invigorating to know that we don't have to stay stuck. Even if we're not the one struggling with narcissism, we can change the way we relate to the people who do. Find out if the stress in your relationships with family, friends, or at work is unknowingly caused from narcissism in yourself or others... Narcissism is actually much more common than we may think and, in reality, most of us have some of these characteristics.

Great book

Helpful Information…
Revisado: 07-30-22
Glad I purchased and listened to this book. The information and articulation make the content affirming and almost axiomatic. So many examples and points elicit the response: “Of course, that makes so much sense.” Also great tools on moving forward. Agree that this book does not dive into the damage & dysfunction that narcissists yield, but that is not a stated goal of the book. For those just starting to question the world of narcissists in which we seem to live (if only bc we all have a few of those traits), this book will not leave you guessing about who the stronger narcissists were/are in your world, and how to deal with them and any residual damage.

Historia
Can liberty survive in the hands of one all-powerful, unchallenged, and unelected bureaucrat? It wasn’t too long ago that the average American didn’t know who Anthony Fauci was. Now, after the coronavirus has spread nationwide, he’s arguably the most powerful bureaucrat in American history. But is it dangerous for a free society to concentrate so much power in the hands of an unelected official? Who or what holds Fauci accountable?

George Orwell's classic satire of the Russian Revolution is an intimate part of our contemporary culture, quoted so often that we tend to forget who wrote the original words! This must-read is also a must-listen!

This story never gets old...
Revisado: 06-07-19
Initially, I would echo the warnings of other reviewers to skip the Introduction and begin the audio at Chapter 1, if reading "Animal Farm" for the first time. The spoilers in the Introduction may kill some of the ride, and frankly the Intro will make more sense after finishing the book.
Additionally, Ralph Cosham's narration was just fantastic on top of a brilliant story and timeless message that never gets old.

In a cloak-and-dagger story of spies, saboteurs, and secret agents, Kinzer reveals the involvement of Eisenhower, Churchill, Kermit Roosevelt, and the CIA in Operation Ajax, which restored Mohammad Reza Shah to power. Reza imposed a tyranny that ultimately sparked the Islamic Revolution of 1979 which, in turn, inspired fundamentalists throughout the Muslim world, including the Taliban and terrorists who thrived under its protection.

Reads like fiction...
Revisado: 06-04-19
History is always much more interesting than the comic book versions we read in textbooks or hear from ostensible “experts.”
This book was difficult to put down b/c it maintained its grip throughout the painstaking historical research the author performed.
Additionally, while the author has an opinion about the subject matter, he doesn’t necessarily tell the reader what to think. Other opinions are presented with enough information and context that invite the reader to form his/her own assessment (#Refreshing)... though at the end of the day, the ramifications of Operation Ajax are part of the historical record regardless of how we view them in hindsight.

Historia
War Is a Racket is Marine General Smedley Butler's classic treatise on why wars are conducted, who profits from them, and who pays the price. Few people are as qualified as General Butler to advance the argument encapsulated in his book's sensational title. When War Is a Racket was first published in 1935, Butler was the most decorated American soldier of his time. Despite his success and his heroic status, Butler came away from his military experiences with a deeply troubled view of both the purpose and the results of warfare.

Good Read

This book affirms what those of us in the non-aggression (defense only) community believe with facts, figures & interesting (if somewhat unrealistic) solutions. Well worth the short time it takes to listen.
