Historia
When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond.

Deeply touching, meaningful
Revisado: 12-03-24
Beautifully and imaginatively written, everything that’s been said of this incredible story. Such well- deserved prizes bestowed! But also, I think since dialogue/ language plays such a critical part, reading as an audible, with excellent narrator, adds extra superb elements.

Real.
Revisado: 08-26-24
Tight real and intimate, with broad meaning. Nature, prairie, birds and humans- all threatened in shared ways. Truly insightful

Amazing reader Angus King!!
Revisado: 07-05-23
I love the character and the series, but it is King’s artistry in “doing the voices” that sets this apart. So entertaining!

Historia
Pete Banning was Clanton's favorite son, a returning war hero, the patriarch of a prominent family, a farmer, a father, a neighbor, and a faithful member of the Methodist church. Then one cool October morning in 1946, he rose early, drove into town, walked into the church, and calmly shot and killed the Reverend Dexter Bell.

Ripoff
Revisado: 12-06-18
Love legal thrillers, some Grishams. This one is dumb, totally worthless: listened at double speed just hoping for better and wanting to get through it. All ridiculous poorly written mishmash with obvious final “big reveal”.

Historia
Back in the run-and-gun days of the mid-'90s, when Billy Graves worked in the South Bronx as part of an anticrime unit known as the Wild Geese, he made headlines by accidentally shooting a 10-year-old boy while stopping an angel-dusted berserker in the street. Branded as a cowboy by his higher-ups, for the next 18 years Billy endured one dead-end posting after another.

He does the voices! Outstanding narration...
Revisado: 03-29-15
Any additional comments?
after thousands of hours listening, gotta say, Ari Fliakos is by far the best American-voice narrator I can remember. The characters are each meticulously voiced with individual personal believable features. Amazingly, even women and children are totally believable as such. I'm going to choose some listens based on his recordings! Hope he does many more.
