Just as good second time around!
Revisado: 04-03-25
Dee Henderson’s boldness to include Christian faith in her stories; and tell a good story makes her one of my favorites. She’s not afraid to delve into harsh realities of life, particularly within in the realm of law enforcement.

Historia
Commander Mark Bishop is deliberately low-key: "I'm in the Navy." But commanding the ballistic missile submarine USS Nevada, keeping her crew trained and alert during 90-day submerged patrols, and being prepared to launch weapons on valid presidential orders, carries a burden of command like few other jobs in the military. Mark wants someone to come home to after sea patrols. The woman he has in mind is young, with a lovely smile, and very smart. She's a civilian, yet she understands the U.S. Navy culture.

What a wonderful re-entry into a new Dee Henderson novel! A bit of a different genre with details of submarine and Navy life. The narration by a male voice was very enjoyable and essential in getting to know the main character, Mark Bishop. His focus on career did not interfere with his commitment to God and eventually finding a new love.
“Gina, the genius” is a complex character that challenges the reader/listener. Her intellect and sensitivity are sometimes at odds but, through the Lord’s guidance find a balance. I chuckled and cried hearing Mark and Gina’s story. This is a very satisfying and engaging story.

Lovely Amish snapshot.
Revisado: 02-24-25
I’ve just recently discovered the author, and have enjoyed the easy relationship between the the Mama and sisters in this story. Although the narrator did a fine job of putting voices to the characters; the cadence of the story telling was quite lacking. Too bad. I do, however, look forward to hearing other books by Beverly Lewis.

An author to be reckoned with! Fabulous!
Revisado: 02-16-25
Lynn Blackburn knows how to grab the reader’s attention. From opening sentence to the final period. I listened to the book before this one; and found it enjoyable to have the same characters moving along in their lives. The workings of a secret service branch office were interesting to see when tackling a problem conjointly with other law enforcement agencies. I’m presuming Blackburn did her due diligence in research for the book.
Captivating storyline, especially with the twists and turns carrying me to the end.
Kate Forbes is a talented performer. Being able to switch back and forth between feminine to masculine voice believably is a fine skill in any narrator. Forbes included.

Engaging and entertaining!
Revisado: 01-23-25
This is maybe the 3rd Nicholas Sparks book I’ve either read or listened to. Each time, I was not disappointed; rather the stories were spellbinding.
I’ve counted miracles in my own life - including the return of my son, as well as a Divinely choreographed meeting of my husband. Consequently the title drew me to the story. The characters were believable and real. The incidents of cruel and callous behavior by the pampered and arrogant teen, who was a chip off the old block of his dad, nearly made my boil at the injustice. But like all things, in time, the truth is revealed and God’s justice does prevail. I will also say the love story woven into the tale was tactfully done. Kudos to Sparks!
And kudos to the narrator. Great job in differentiating each character!

Another winner from Pettrey
Revisado: 11-10-24
This the first time I’ve listened to a male narrator for Pettrey’s books. It was helpful to hear the story from the guys’ perspective. However, Hutchison’s breathy voice was quite distracting. I kept expecting to hear him have an asthma attack. The characters were a bit difficult to track as his voices weren’t always consistent.
The story was excellent! The suspense and action kept me engaged to the end … as always.

Captivating story even the 2nd time around
Revisado: 10-22-24
I had listened to this Hannon book over a year ago. I enjoyed it then as well as now. Although the romance in her books is predictable, how they play out is always a mystery. Her ability to hold the reader’s interest is dependable. Plummer does a very fine job narrating each time. A few mispronounced words don’t deter from her excellent job.

A trilogy of hope!
Revisado: 09-14-24
Reading/listening to the books in the order they were written is essential to seeing the ever present hope in each character. As well as the progression of the war’s impact on different countries. The author is talented and adept at bringing the reader deep into the story. E. Larsen expertly and believably introduces God’s love, forgiveness, and purpose … even in the midst of terrifying challenges.
The narrator also is expertly talented. Her command of accents in many languages allows the listener to be fully immersed in all three books.
Even though death is all around the characters in this 3rd book; each one remains true and constant to his or her personal calling. Whether it be journalism, nursing, priesthood, covert action, and all levels of army’s command.
I highly recommend this 3 part series to anyone who is interested in the courage and faith of men and women who helped win the second WW.

D Mills delivered a masterful suspense story. Complete with Christian belief and romance. The book was quite captivating and highly enjoyable. I walked miles listening. M Gavin’s narration is worthy of Broadway theater. She made each character unique and believable - accents included. Brava to both author and narrator!
