Book boiled me alive, LOVING this story so far. Excited to jump in for more, the world is fascinating and the characters intriguing. Good chemistry between a few so far, anticipating to get to know them more.

A MC that wasn't annoying

Quick one shot story to feed the beast. Enjoyed it for what it was, it's not the most amazing story or the most compelling characters but it was exactly what I was looking for, for the mood I was in. Really appreciated the MFC, she was (for once) a damn reasonable and relatively level headed character. I was pleased to find I wasn't annoyed by her once.
Great spice and included a solid serving of MM, which I love in my RH stories.

the story got very interesting, still wonderfully sassy and fun. sexy too, though was definitely hoping for a bit of M/M with the guys, apparently that's not happening. I love that it actually took this long for the sex, would have been just as happy if it was drawn out even further (fan for slow burn).
world building and revelations of their history was great but now i'm worried my interest will wane since most of the mysteries have been answered.
way too much use of the term "evil vagina" was genuinely funny first couple of times, but then it got annoying.

fun and sassy

Charming eccentric family

It's cute. Story isn't so much about the romance as it is about a crazy family and what it's like to be among them in a world of magic. Bucket load of snark and sarcasm. MC and his prince are pretty adorable together.

Whiney MC and no plot

I can't stand the main character. Author has written victimhood as his primary personality, close second is sheltered innocence. Takes self depreciation to a new level. It's a lot of whining and exposition. The angels have a lot more personality to them, and are often charming, but don't quite make up for it.

There is no plot here, I'm not joking or being hyperbolic. This book seems to solely be to establish characters and world. I was actually caught off gaurd when it ended because nothing had happened and I thought I had missed an entire portion of the story.

One of the best MM fantasy adventures I've read

I have to recommend this series. One of the best MM stories I've read from mainstream publishing.

Stubborn broken dragon prince meets equally stubborn elven assassin with massive chip in shoulder and too much pride to know when to stop. They attempt to kill each other but seem to just keep saving the other instead. SLOW burn, SPICEY chemistry that delivers, ANGSTY as hell, bloody VIOLENT, species/race wars, surprisingly flavored with touch of alternate history. Psyco bad guys want to literally and metaphorically fuck the world. Warning this is not for faint of heart, very rapey bad guys. Almost all threats of violence and rape are met and the author does not cut away from most of it. Much healing and therapy needed for every character introduced, they fight on wonderfully inspite of it all.

Characters, world building, story, and plot are all very solid. Exciting and well paced. The audio book VA is amazing but im also buying the paperbacks because I enjoyed this that much. It's not perfect but certainly exactly what I had hoped for.

Fun read!

I liked the first book better mostly because the number of perspectives the story was split amongst was nearly half to this one. still very much enjoyed it, and fell for a few more characters. I liked Gillian a lot in the first books and adored her and Maddox here. The family drama and entanglements were interesting and really enjoyed the merging of the dragon and human alliances. Gonna start the next book right away!
