Historia
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Revisado: 05-11-20
Listening to Chanel Miller narrate the story of her sexual assault and hellish experience in the court system moved me to tears of sadness, frustration and anger. She takes us on a journey not only through this nightmare but also through her life. While Chanel recounts experiences in childhood and adolescence, she paints the picture of her true self that the defense attorney tried so hard to obliterate. In the end I cried tears of joy as her tender, whimsical spirit triumphs in spite of it all. I hope we hear more from Chanel in the future.
