Narration is ruining it
Revisado: 09-01-20
So I am giving up and going old school, hard copy from my local library.
The story line is intriguing and I want that but the narrations is so horrid it feels like my ears are going to bleed with just one hour of trying to power thru the narration.

Koontz goes rogue (agent)
Revisado: 07-22-20
And it's hella awesome!!
This is a mix of Cook/Crichton/Twilight Zone/Night Gallery creepy and off the charts rogue Rapt, Grey Man, Ryan in the female version.
Jane Hawk is one a$$ whompin' woman. It's not often a rouge female agent is as hard core as the many male rouges, enjoyed this character very much.
Chapter advance is glitched, the odd long pauses , annoying, but got used to it...anticipated it so by hour four didn't give it much thought. By hour four I was so invested in the story line I was looking for reasons to hide so I could just listen and not be interrupted.
Narration.....isn't awful....the attempts at accent/male voices is a bit wonky but overall not bad enough to ruin the listen.
Snagged this in the two for one credit along with the follow up "The Whispering Room" and am going to get lost in that one as soon I get the feral crew here fed and hushed up!

Two for one snag
Revisado: 07-19-20
Made for a good way to wile away a too hot to be outside Saturday.
Overall, good listen, once in a while a bit graphic and might be hard to listen to if you've been in an abusive realtionship. The points that the abuse is described isn't gory graphic but very emotionally graphic.
The narration is wonky, being from Tulsa, having lived all over the southeast U.S. the narrators all sound like they are from the west coast, no local cadence/inflection in their voices. Not that that is a bad thing.
I'll take no accent over bad attempts at accents any time.
Tho, the one "Latino" in the story line sounds Boston Irish.
The actual end of the story drags out way too long but, the ending is a good one.

You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don’t care. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself. But one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket—an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you just know it’s another of the wives.

Pardon the pun...
Revisado: 07-14-20
There IS a method to the madness in the story line.
Been in my wish list for a while, snagged it on a daily deal and glad I didn't use a credit.
It's a bit of a mixed bag more three stars but gonna put up four cuz the ending DID kinda knock my socks off.
The story line isn't hard to follow as long as you don't start the listen locked in with preconceived notions about "consensual" poly relationships, keep a fluid thought process or you will want to give up.
Lauren Fortgang did a fantastic job with narration. She has a good ear for inflection, tone and modulation for each character. She did a great job of making each character distinct.
Overall....discount buy...it's a four star...full credit purchase.....a 3.5.

It wasn’t so long ago when a lot of people thought the Florida panther was extinct. They were very nearly right. That the panther still exists at all is a miracle - the result of a desperate experiment that led to the most remarkable comeback in the history of the Endangered Species Act. And no one has told the whole story - until now.

Daily deal snag
Revisado: 07-13-20
But had I known the book was out there, I would have paid full price. Not a born Floridian but am in Key Largo as often as I can be. I have heard bits and pieces of this story from locals.
Locals have a tendency to "over tell" local lore/gossip, what shocked me after listening to this is the fact they didn't over tell it, in fact if anything none of them had as much info about this mess as one should have when it happens in your back yard.
Floridian or not this is a good listen for the education in how egos, money and politics can send things in very bad directions.
Narration is great and he nails local names! Don't know if he is from FL or just did the DD to get it right. As someone who gets beyond annoyed by narrators who can't get names of places pronounced right, I was very happy!

Until the last three chapters
Revisado: 07-12-20
I thought I was listening to another twist on the Betty Broderick story.
This was an interesting take on "woman wronged" but way too much "filler" fluff. I found myself skipping ahead four to five minuets at a time--often-- so it only took me about four hours to listen to the book.
You do have to sort of let go of "norms in life/kids/divorce" or you will find yourself thinking
"Okay to over the top, no way would that happen" and want to give up.
The narration was okay, not sure who did what voices but the grandmother and the grandson sound alike sans the Greek accent of the grandmother. The way Piper is narrated is annoying, but I am going to guess this is intentional.
I did see the very last bit of the ending coming, what I didn't see coming is the chapter before the last.
THAT twist made it worth the listen.

Stay with it....
Revisado: 07-10-20
It's worth it.
I took me three tries to get far enough into the listen to get caught up in the story, to the point I wasn't just listening, I was seeing this play out in my mind's eye.
I've started so many "dual person" themed stories that are all over the map as the story unfolds only to go
"OH,UGH this is just lousy writing and it is being covered up by keeping the listener confused."
That IS NOT the case here.
This story is screaming
"SOMEONE GET THE COEN BROTHERS ON THE PHONE,NOW!!"
This needs to make it to the screen. If it does I'll be kicking myself, since I know the ending, ha-ha.
Yes, it jumps around and will give you a bit of mental whiplash now and then.
Yes it drags at some points and yes it can feel redundant with the story being told twice, but from different perspectives.
Yes, it telegraphs where it is going to go, to some degree, BUT, in the end, it becomes obvious the story can't be told without the redundancy.
Yes you will figure out what's going to happen, the key is the tiny bits that build to the
"Oh I soo saw that coming."
Only to get smacked right in the ears with something that makes you go
"Geezzlouweeezzzzzz...did NOT see THAT coming!"
It's like eating your favorite food that someone has tweaked and ampped up the flavor.
You know what it is going to taste like, but this one time, this serving was off the charts surprisingly awesome.
You enjoy the fimiliar and outright savor the ammped up bits in slower, smaller bites thinking
"WOW, who knew this could be THIS good?"
The narrations is spot on, in fact it is the ONLY reason I managed to make it far enough into the listen to finally go
"OH HOLY COW...THIS IS A GOOD STORY!!"
Once I got to that point, I lost a full day, I have a ticked off husband cuz I snapped at him every time he tried to talk to me but it was SOOOOO worth it

Historia
In I’m Your Emotional Support Animal, Adam Carolla examines how our culture went careening off a cliff. We used to have one that created real warriors who fought world wars. Now it spawns social justice warriors who fight Twitter wars. He takes on those who are traumatized by Trump and “emotional support animal” owners who proclaim their victimhood at every airport. He stands up for the collateral damage of the #MeToo movement and for freedom of speech on “safe space” filled college campuses.

Revisado: 06-17-20
The publisher blurb nails it.
Yeah....it's 100% crass...sometimes over the top vulgar Adam.....so be prepared!!! I was nodding my head so hard at time I thought my head would pop off my shoulders.....I don't agree with everything Adam has to say.....but then...I'm this way with all the folks I want in my world...I want people who can logically express an opinion....no matter what it is.
I don't want to be preached at/lectured....I want to be spoken to and well...that's what Adam does!!
I'll be buying hard copies and passing them out...soon....I know a few folks who could use the stress busting "aha moments" that will come to them as they read!

So much of it is so redundant I kept fading away from the listen, I gave up and started to jump ahead and the ending was..well....nothing surprising.
It's six hours too long.
Got it as a daily deal so not out a full credit, if I'd been out a full credit I'd have returned it into chapter sixish.
