I enjoyed the story in this book - Dick is not your ordinary spy and some of the gadgetry is no further far fetched that what you'd see in a Bond story. Unfortunately, I didn't really enjoy the narrator - he's definitely no where near the worst I've listened to from Audible but it took me a little bit to get into his way of reading.

All in all though, a good story.

When I first read this book in print form, I actually gave up on it and moved on to the next one - I just couldn't get into it.

However, when Skin Game was released I decided to revisit the entire series before hitting the latest book.

One of the things that concerned me was the change in narrator for this book. After 12 books in the series, James Marsters *is* Dresden for me now and a change of narrator was a concern, especially after reading some of the other reviews posted on Audible for this recording.

I think some other people have given John Glover unfair treatment in their reviews. Sure, it's not quite the same, and I look forward to the return to James Marsters in the remaining two in the series (that are available as I write this), but I think Mr. Glover does a good job. He has a decent ability to make different voices for different characters, which is important to me when listening to a book and while his delivery of certain aspects of the characters is different - he just doesn't do "Fuego!" justice - it's not enough to distract me from what's happening in the plot.

The tale as a whole covers several pieces of back story information that I missed when I didn't finish the book the first time through. I would recommend though, that anyone deciding to pick up this as a first read of the Dresden Files instead goes right back to the beginning and start with Storm Front.

There's far too much background information in 12 novels before this one that help flesh out the complex relationships Harry has with the other characters in the book.

Overall, this is not my favorite part of the series. But it's the Dresden Files. It must be listened to.
