Historia
If anyone could be considered a Russian counterpart to the infamous British double-agent Kim Philby, it was Oleg Gordievsky. The son of two KGB agents and the product of the best Soviet institutions, the savvy, sophisticated Gordievsky grew to see his nation's communism as both criminal and philistine. He took his first posting for Russian intelligence in 1968 and eventually became the Soviet Union's top man in London, but from 1973 on he was secretly working for MI6.

I liked the chronological way the personal experience was synced with the time period.
I appreciated the author admitting that there were unknown answers.
The book gave me a peek into the patience of governments spying on each other and the years needed to cultivate trust and reliable intelligence

Help, Healing, Wholeness
Revisado: 01-13-25
The author skillfully leads us into the mental and emotional state of the abused. Those abused physically, emotionally and even spiritually need a refuge when they have the courage to seek help.
Healing only happens when love and truth are given. The various characters created by the author reveals it’s possible to help others heal even if they are not from our social circle.
The main character displays that wholeness is possible, even after abuse, if given safety and time. God’s grace and healing are possible.

The plot and how the author weaves the histories of the characters.

I enjoyed the theme of mercy or bitterness throughout this series. That the people struggled to forgive injustice just as we do today

Intriguing glimpse into the lives of the inhabitants of Canaan and their opinions of Israelites.
Revisado: 07-07-24
The plot and characters were fascinating and held my attention.
The editor needed to catch details of the story that were unrealistic. That’s irritating when absorbed in a good story and then the timeline or events fail to align.
