With her go a one-eyed spy, a traitor, and the man with whom - despite everything - she is falling in love. If she’s lucky, she’ll return. But there will be a cost.

Historia
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by its toe. It's seared into Atlee Pine's memory: the kidnapper's chilling rhyme as he chose between six-year-old Atlee and her twin sister, Mercy. Mercy was taken. Atlee was spared. She never saw Mercy again. Three decades after that terrifying night, Atlee Pine works for the FBI. She's the lone agent assigned to the Shattered Rock, Arizona resident agency, which is responsible for protecting the Grand Canyon. So when one of the Grand Canyon's mules is found stabbed to death at the bottom of the canyon - and its rider missing - Pine is called in to investigate.

Terrific!
Revisado: 10-11-19
I really enjoyed listening to David Baldacci's newest character and look forward to more of her story. I gave the performance 3 stars due to the fact that the same narrator for Amos Decker (another Baldacci character) is used in this one. The male characters take on Amos's persona instead of their own.
I looked forward to listening to the book. I liked Atlee Pine very much but loved her side kick Carol Blum!
If you like a thriller then this will be right up your alley. Enough suspense that I would stop what I was doing to be sure I'd catch the next hitch in the adventure.
I recommend the book.

Narration is dreadful
Revisado: 10-11-19
I found the review of the book to be interesting enough that I'll be cheeking the book out from the library. I am so glad not to have spent a credit on buying the book based on the first chapter of narration. The narration is shrill, whiny and hard on the ears, impossible to listen any further.

Narration is astrocious
Revisado: 10-13-18
I have stopped listening in the middle of chapter 3 and it is solely due to the narrator. This narration is rushed, the timing is off and the accents and voice inflextions are simply wrong. I will read the rest of the book myself, and if it is ever re-recorded by Jennifer I will listen to it again. A waste of my credit.

Historia
Magic, adventure, mystery, and romance combine in this epic debut in which a young princess must reclaim her dead mother’s throne, learn to be a ruler - and defeat the Red Queen, a powerful and malevolent sorceress determined to destroy her. On her 19th birthday, Princess Kelsea Raleigh Glynn, raised in exile, sets out on a perilous journey back to the castle of her birth to ascend her rightful throne. Plain and serious, a girl who loves books and learning, Kelsea bears little resemblance to her mother, the vain and frivolous Queen Elyssa.

Narration is simply awful. Wonderful story.
Revisado: 01-18-17
Would you try another book from Erika Johansen and/or Katherine Kellgren?
I would definitely read Erika Johansen again and have. I will not listen to Katherine Kellgren again.
What didn’t you like about Katherine Kellgren’s performance?
Her voice and character voices are horrendous. When the storyline is intense and exciting, she yells instead of inflecting passion and excitement in her reading. She runs on from sentence to sentence without proper pause.
Terrible narration, simply awful.
Any additional comments?
It's a shame they chose Katherine Kellgren to narrate some a wonderful story. There are so many other narrators they should have chosen.

Absolutely love this series!
Revisado: 07-06-12
What made the experience of listening to The Seduction of the Crimson Rose the most enjoyable?
Kate Reading does a wonderful job narrating the story. The story is captivating. Keeps you wanting more. Loved a story about Lord Vaughn. If you have followed the characters in this series, you won't be disappointed with this next installment.
Have you listened to any of Kate Reading’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. This was is as top notch as the previous ones that we've listened to. She narrates wonderfully.
Any additional comments?
Fantastic series. My two teenage daughters and I love listening to this series with Kate Reading narrating. Highly recommend both.

The Bride by Julie Garwood
Revisado: 05-07-12
What disappointed you about The Bride?
The narration was terrible as was the story.
Would you ever listen to anything by Julie Garwood again?
Probably not-I would definitely listen to a test before using a valuable credit.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Scottish accents are difficult-it would have been better if she has not tried to pass one off first of all and the husbands accent and voice was atrocious.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment and frustration. I kept waiting for the story to get better. Could have strangled the sisters.
Any additional comments?
If you are considering spending money or using a credit, listen to the sample first.
