We live in a world obsessed with drinking. We drink at baby showers and work events, brunch and book club, graduations and funerals. Yet no one ever questions alcohol’s ubiquity—in fact, the only thing ever questioned is why someone doesn’t drink. It is a qualifier for belonging and if you don’t imbibe, you are considered an anomaly. As a society, we are obsessed with health and wellness, yet we uphold alcohol as some kind of magic elixir, though it is anything but.

This was an emotional listen for me because of how much I can relate to some of the experiences.
The negative reviews I came across had an overarching theme, so it feels valuable to say: if you’re a fan of Donny’s, and aren’t drinking the CRT Kool-Aid, I’d go ahead and pass. Luckily, 45 ain’t my cup of tea, but I am guzzzzling down the critical race theory.
But fear not!
Alternatively, if you’re seeking a valuable book about ditching alcohol, you can check out Allen Carr’s Easy Way, which the author touches on fondly numerous times. I’ve listened to it as well, can agree it’s great, and lacks the political discourse you don’t want to hear :)

Some points resonated with me prior to listening, but most were eye opening and gave me a different perspective on the actions I take in my life. I do not think I’ve ever heard/read such a good book. This was incredible. The narrated dialogue was a little dry but that’s so worth the concepts you will hear. This should be a required book for humans lol. And he drops the mic at the very end so beautifully, so be sure to listen to the appendix!
