It seems we have created a sliding scale where gossip, jealousy, and selfishness comfortably exist within the church. In short, some sins have simply become acceptable.

Jerry Bridges pulls no punches. He is gracious but forthright, clear, concise and direct. He doesn't give any wiggle room although he is forced by the Spirit to write in a gracious and passionate way. If you're serious about your spiritual growth and your desire to walk closer to God then this book when, listened to and read and practiced will help you tremendously. This is best done in a community group of loving friends who want to graciously help you work on some of the things that Jerry brings up and the Spirit uses to convict you in the respectable sins that we walk around with every day. A must-read and practice for a serious disciple of Jesus

Being a Navigator Representative myself I admit that I am rather bias towards the writings of Jerry Bridges. I met him for a brief moment twice before he went on to the Lord and both times I walked away having experienced a man of God, pursuing God and encouraging others to do the same. This book is well laid out in structure as well as substance which will help every reader learn through personal applications of Jerry's stories and examples how they too can grow in personal holiness. Listening to this book at the beginning of each year helps me grow up in faith and strengthen my Pursuit of Holiness. It's a must read!

A must listen for EVERYONE!

It is irrelevant what your upbringing and past might have been, reading this book will empower you to begin remembering and working through some of the hidden effects of Shame you never knew were there, and having negative effects on you today. as Dr Thompson says going through this process with a group of trusted friends would be best if you are able, please read this book if you think you don't suffer from shame currently or from your past that's fine but the tools and the Insight he shares in this book will help you be more empathetic and a blessing to those around you.
