I still don't know what it means to have my dominant and secondary types. I don't know how they interact with other types. The few examples sound like they have different secondaries than me. I just want to know how to use this, but feel like it needs visuals and decent examples.

Historia
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

Long-winded tunnel vision
Revisado: 02-17-19
I thought the chapter (s?) about air travel would never end! Aside from that, I found too many missing variables as to explain success. The author fails to give credit for individual pioneers, yet ironically gives credit to a collective of group thought. Individuals, particularly religious ones, have historically lost EVERYTHING (family, land, wealth, status, etc) in an attempt to raise the standard across cultures. Many of them have been ostracized or stoned to death by the collective because they like their concubines. They like having slaves. And they love their power. The USA was built on a culture of individualism because it CREATES. It was also built upon the fortitude of individuals who have continually shattered the culture of collectivism. Should they succeed, and be rewarded for their success? YES, because they pave the way for others to live their own individual dreams, and keep building layers, as well. Bill Gates' story is an example of a mentor who fought HARD, you can bet, to obtain or create the equipment Bill learned by. As evidenced by the fact that it wasn't available to the collective, because for the whole, their standard is lower. Individuals reject the bucket of lobsters trying to pull them back down and find a way to climb out. Making a lot of money for their effort is an organic side effect. Idividualism is the crust holding in the apple pie. Without it, we just have applesauce.

As a homemaker, there was a lot of useful information, it was just sprinkled throughout other areas of life that are entirely irrelevant to me. The title is a little vague for its content. Also, there is little to no skill building for if the pathological narcissist in chapter 11 is your mother.

I know, obviously from the title it's got some unintelligent choice of descriptives. This book sums up other brilliant books in a way I simply couldn't recommend to friends.

Historia
In The Child Whisperer, best-selling author Carol Tuttle explains that children tell their parents every day exactly how they need to be parented. They tell their teachers exactly how they need to be taught. Children are trying to tell adults who they are so they can be recognized and treated in a way that honors them uniquely. The Child Whisperer reveals that the key to raising happy, healthy, cooperative children lies in understanding and responding to a child's inner nature.

It's an interesting theory, and I've been doing my best to figure out what types we've got here, but sometimes I'm left scratching my head. I've figured out I'm a type 3 and that's been helpful to recognize my natural tendencies and embrace them more. Glad I listened, and would recommend.

This took me a while to finish because I mostly listened while I would fold clothes out of the dryer. It actually took 9 months, but I was able to easily pick up where I left off. I did wish for less inappropriate language, but for the most part the humor was spot on. Seriously gory descriptives, so if you're scared of blood, killing and death, this book is not for you.

Typical self help
Revisado: 06-01-17
Now that I've read a few self help books I've found a pattern. Most of the first 2/3 of the book is dedicated to annoying stories of rude people with made up names. Then the last part leaves you going, "That's it?" The parenting advice is very much too short. I thought there would be some profound advice about problems that aren't first world. There was just a whole lot of what love isn't.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

She was a perfect baby, and she had a perfect name. Chrysanthemum. When she was old enough to appreciate it, Chrysanthemum loved her name. And then she started school. "I'm named after my grandmother," said Victoria. "You're named after a flower." Chrysanthemum wilted. Life at school didn't improve. In fact, it got worse.
