Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop students with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes.

Grew On Me. . .
Revisado: 06-19-23
I'm pretty much a horror buff however, any genre sidestepping romance can kidnap me IF the author can make me care about the character's.
At first I couldn't bare the narrator, He sounded like a robot; his voice, flat and continuously level, not boring just too robotic.
The story was not gripping me seemingly a bit of a rip off of the Harry Potter series.
But LOOK at the hours per book!
I started with Year 2, 3, 4 and then 1. With the subject there is no way to avoid some HP resemblance, but it is not HP whatsoever, definitely not the same type characters or school!
In the end the narrator is perfect for this story, there are enough character's to find one or two to adore and care about.
Honestly I could care less about what the teens got into, what happened to them, rather I just enjoyed hanging out with them. This is saying a GREAT deal as I generally don't care for teenagers! Raging hormones, think they are know-it-all's, think the world is coming to an end when love doesn't work out or rejected.... NOPE! Not these kids. They think and roll with the punches with what they got or don't have
BRAVO Mr. Hayes!.

Harsh Listen
Revisado: 06-08-23
If I never hear a single word about a males junk again it will be too soon! Yes that junk! And this coming from a woman who still loves and adores men despite this book! The focus of the story is based on males that view females as a commodity which is intolerable, more so when the same statements etc., are repeated over and over "filler".
The one star rating is a flag to self not listen to it again. The book is written well enough (except for the filler repeats) , the narrator Jesse Holt is pleasant to listen to. I imagine there are plenty of readers that will find some humor in this books material, but tum, yeah... not my cup of tea.

Adore Jeff Strand, But...
Revisado: 02-05-23
This is complete rubbish. Not one story is interesting, funny or entertaining. Some stories caused great annoyance with repeating of phrases etc. I lied, one interesting thing and that is the introduction from, Strand. The audio is pretty bad as well, not clear, off pitch, something I don't know how to describe in my sheer annoyance with this book. Narrator Andy Baker is fine, but again sound is off.
Meh, I still adore Jeff Strand and no one can win them all. This horror of a book will NOT prevent me from buying his others to come!

George & Lou - Bless Em'
Revisado: 02-05-23
Ok, not the best story ever written however, the characters make up for it. They are regular people for the most part thrown into supernatural affair they want nothing to do with. Would you? No! Not like this! Due to who and what they are they are quite comical! Can't help chuckle at them.
Scott Thomas is a real GEM! The narration makes the story even better! Absolutely great listen!
I can't really call this story "horror" because there is just a tiny bit of silliness to it that makes the "horror" aspects void, but yes it gets ugly once in a while.
Eugene - LOVE HIM, pun, to pieces!
I do hope Strand brings the four (not mentioning the 4th character, you'll have to read to find out) characters back!

Saw Movie First
Revisado: 12-22-22
SK has NEVER scared me with his stories, but his characters, I absolutely adore and loath! I read his work for the characters and this gem 1922 is no different! I saw the movie first, didn't even know this was a SK book nor that it existed. WOW I was hooked!
Movie vs Book: In the movie I have a wee bit of sympathy for Wilf, even though his choices are deplorable I understand why the conniving man came out. In the book I dislike Wilf completely; can't wrap my head around how a man that keeps his head in books can think so nastily towards a race of people. The movie has far less focus on rats which allowed more focus on the characters. The movie is dark in all manners and yet very calm, something the book didn't portray. The book gives us more meat of the characters!
Excellent story, well narrated!

Caleb Lambert kills people for a living. The money is nice, but it comes a distant second to his primary reason for choosing such a vocation: Caleb often calls it “scratching an itch”. Here’s the thing, though: Caleb won’t just accept any contract. He and his team thoroughly vet each and every prospective mark to make sure they deserve to be punished.

Grew On Me
Revisado: 12-22-22
Listened to it, walking away thinking "Meh". Asked Alexa to pick a book at random for me to listen to and ^@%#$ she chose this one again. Too lazy to shut down my game to look at my library, I listened again... this is really not my genre, but got the book on sale and well, this story, characters really grew on me.
The writing is smooth and easy to follow along. The story well paced. Finally, the story is entertaining. If I had one complaint it would be that there is nothing to "figure out", everything is handed to the reader upfront and center, but again that's why I said this is not my type of genre, but neither is "HITMAN" and I fell in love with that story. Honestly, I was a little annoyed when the book ended, found myself wanting to continue down Caleb's journey in life.
My point, if this isn't your type of genre, but are looking for something different... give Caleb a try =) Glad I did!

And Their Off!
Revisado: 07-28-22
Like horses coming out the gates, this story bust out and runs fast along the racetrack! The story and narrator are clear and concise. Characters are enjoyable and more importantly believable. Though this story is fast pace it doesn't feel rushed. The end is clean and satisfying. Being vague to a degree for I don't want to spoil a single word. Thank you Mr. Strand it's been a while since I've read a book that wasn't King that made me have interest in characters!

A book captures me with the characters or an entity I can care about. Or a villain I can't wait to read get its come uppins. Was hoping after the first book I would get some of this, NOPE! More of the same, but somehow worse. Didn't care about anything or anyone in this story. With that said, if one is just after action, this book might be for you.

Satisfying
Revisado: 07-11-22
Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the stories of Andrew coming to a halt. More is needed! Andrew is an enjoyable character, simple with refreshing common sense power and a tiny sprinkle of sarcasm. The way he deals with terrifying situations he finds himself in, well he takes it like a man and normal human being. I thoroughly enjoyed all the Andrew books!
Jeff if your paying attention, MORE Andrew please!

Thoroughly Enjoyable!
Revisado: 05-12-21
The story is captivating, the narration is pleasant and smooth. The characters are loveable or hated. It has a bit of everything, horror, suspense, romance (sex), even a cliffhanger. A mellow book thanks to Mr. Prebble's narration! His read and tone of voice is as such that makes one want to "pay attention". The "horror" is subtle, believable and the bad guys getting their come-uppin's is delicious! Can't praise the book enough and I am an AVID bad book returner! This is a gem I will listen to several more times, it's that enjoyable!
