Historia
Why do some children thrive and others struggle? The answers may surprise you. New research indicates that the seeds for adult success are actually planted in the toddler years. Dr. Tovah Klein's research and firsthand work with thousands of toddlers explains why the toddler brain is best suited to laying the foundation for success. Dr. Klein reveals the new science behind drivers such as resilience, self-reliance, self-regulation, and empathy that are more critical to success than simple intelligence.

This, in my opinion, is the absolute best parenting advice. I'm going to listen to and read (also own hardcopy) this over and over. I want to highlight the whole book!

Historia
It's been seven years since Chelsea Martin embarked on her yearlong postcollege European adventure. Since then, she's lost her mother to cancer and watched her sister marry twice, while Chelsea has become one of the most talented fundraisers for the American Cancer Coalition, and with the exception of one annoyingly competent coworker, Jason, her status as most successful moneymaker is unquestioned. Then Chelsea is forced to acknowledge that her life stopped after her mother died and that the last time she can remember being happy, in love, or enjoying her life was on her year abroad.

Good story but don't like main character
Revisado: 05-13-21
Fun idea of a story. Well written. I wish the main character was more likeable. Also it is a book that's supposed to be about finding yourself, but really it's about finding a man to complete your life to make you happy. Good beach read but that's about it.

Historia
The Second Baby Book examines all the questions and issues Sarah herself faced second time around as well as sharing the experiences of the many parents who have sought her advice. It also highlights what scientific studies reveal about such issues as the spacing of children and the differences between first and second births. Practical, insightful and honest, this book will help you understand the challenges ahead, but, more importantly, it will equip you to meet them with knowledge, confidence and a sense of excitement for the future.

Very helpful!!
Revisado: 04-14-21
My first child will be 23 months when our second baby is born. I listened to this while pregnant and plan to re-listen to certain parts again when baby is here for a refresher. I especially love that she talks about thinking of the older sibling going through a mourning phase rather than looking at it as jealousy. I like her advice and wisdom so much that I plan to purchase her sleep and potty training books as well!

NOT a feel good Christmas book
Revisado: 01-04-21
I'm so disappointed. I got this because it was supposedly similar to the whimsical holiday romance The 12 Dates of Christmas and it's not even close! They don't even actually celebrate Christmas in this book, the characters skip it all together. It's full of depressing topics and it more about overcoming grief and bad relationships than anything else. I don't think this title is appropriate. The story is fine and it's written well, but don't market it as a feel good Christmas romance book because it's not at all. To me it was the opposite of feel-good.

Revisado: 09-18-20
Different, detailed and well thought out. Rachel was my favorite. I was also in college in 2002 and the events happening in her life in that year brought back a lot of memories for me. I wish that we got more of Rachel perspective from when she was older in the book. I'm happy to hear that there is a movie coming out to see more of her story.

Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes best-selling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. They’re polar opposites. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they're living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer's block.

Perfect summer read
Revisado: 06-19-20
This book is fun, well written, everything I'd hoped for in a "beach read" and the narrator does a great job. It isn't too over the top like some rom com books are. I'm a fan of this author and am glad I purchased this book. I'm thinking I'll relisten to it in a future summer, hopefully on an actual beach next time :)

Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.

cute and fun
Revisado: 02-12-20
I really enjoyed this book. I live in Minnesota and grew up in Eden Prairie so got a kick out of hearing the locations. I have to say tho that the accent is more small town, central and up north than how we speak in the Twin Cities. Waconia has 12k people, so not that small, and Eden Prairie is about a 30 mile drive from there towards Minneapolis. But accent aside, I say uf-dah all the time! It was a fun story and I love the main characters. It got me craving a hot dish so I made one for dinner.

Historia
Sometimes history lies, and the tales of Minatsol and Topia are no different. Since the birth of Topia, Staviti has woven a web of deceit around the truth of creation, striving only to maintain his power while destroying anything that gets in his way. Now, Willa and the Abcurses are determined to strip back the layers, to uncover the truth, and to understand the true nature of the two worlds before it's too late. The only problem? Any wrong step in their quest to restore balance might have terrible repercussions. Every single being - living or dead - might have to pay the price.

not a fan, slightly dissapointed
Revisado: 08-25-19
Normally I love books in this genre. Unfortunately, the author gets very redundant (the word literally is in about every chapter) and repeats things unnecessary to the plot multiple times, "Thomas goes by Tom now." The reader isn't great either, which might, or may not, be a part of my distaste for the main character. This story has potential, and I understand the effort put in with attempting depth of characters. It just isn't there for me.
