As fulfilling as I hoped, but not the way I expect
Revisado: 10-12-23
I am a big fan of Glenn Stearns. Having watched undercover billionaire with my family a couple times. I was excited when I saw he had written a book and waited for it to come out on audio. His childhood was a little bit more challenging than I thought. but I confess when I heard his first business venture take off the way it did, I was tempted to think he was lucky. I won't spoil the rest of the story for you, but for me I'm glad I didn't stop reading. His grit and character was shown through a marvelous life. One that is complete with humility, devastation, unbelievable odds stacked against him, resilience, and a certain wholeness to it. My favorite authors are the ones that you feel you really have a grip on their inner thoughts because they aren't afraid to tell you even their shameful thoughts. it allows us all to really believe and see inside of them. I found myself choked up three unexpected times after he'd become a major success. They were my favorite parts of the story. This taught me that financial success has little to do with being done. You really see and believe that even if Glenn had everything taken away from him, he would come out on top again.

it kept my interest the entire book. There was a couple times that I thought the theories were impossible. And later they would get resolved and make sense.

Essentialism is more than a time-management strategy or a productivity technique. It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution toward the things that really matter.
