Historia
Filled with interviews of friends, family, and acquaintances as well as people who knew and grew up with Raymond Lee Washington. Don't look here for horrific stories of gang violence and crimes committed by gang members; that has been done before. If you are looking for a factual and intuitive look into what made Raymond Washington unique on the mean streets of Los Angeles, this book is for you. This book is filled with stories and eyewitness accounts of those who knew who the real founder of the Crips gang was.

Not by Raymond nor his words.
Revisado: 09-18-23
This is a great story, but it's not by Raymond, nor is it in his words. It's such a shame that he himself did not get to tell his story. There is so much hearsay, people who think they know certain fact and contradictions. The only person who could say for sure was Raymond, and he didn't tell his story. There is one part at the beginning, which is a letter by Raymond, which is the most genuine part of the book. It's the only part of the book that's in his words.

Historia
Seldom does a book have the impact of Michelle Alexander’s The New Jim Crow. Since it was first published in 2010, it has been cited in judicial decisions and has been adopted in campus-wide and community-wide reads; it helped inspire the creation of the Marshall Project and the new $100 million Art for Justice Fund; it has been the winner of numerous prizes, including the prestigious NAACP Image Award; and it has spent nearly 250 weeks on the New York Times best seller list.

There is no better articulation for my struggle as a black man. This book should be mandatory for high school students.
