If you’re looking for an angry woman bashing men and the patriarchy - this is your book. It was an impulse purchase and I wish I could return it! Within an hour she had repeated herself multiple times and said that men are incapable of love. Excuse me, what? Maybe she’s known some vastly different men than I have, but to say all men are incapable of love and they just settle with a woman because they don’t want to be alone? No, thanks.

For the past forty years, I've done an excellent job at every single one of them. Until Millie Hall. To be fair, I had no idea who she was that first night. Can't say the same about the second. Finding out that the mystery girl who turned my world upside down was the twin sister of my star left winger and my best friend's twenty-two-year-old daughter is less than ideal.

Revisado: 11-03-24
I was a little worried about this book as I didn’t really enjoy Brooks’ story, but this was an absolute treat! Gavin and Millie’s love story was so sweet and hot! I LOVED it! The narrators are top notch (you can never go wrong with Jason Clarke) and they made this book an absolute listening pleasure.

It doesn’t matter that Wes Beckham owns the company I work for or that he’s twenty years older than me or that there’s a strict “no fraternization policy” in place. She is convinced he wants me and that the office holiday party is the perfect place to let him know I’m interested. Because while he’s technically my older, very off-limits boss, he’s also gorgeous and charming and despite his grumpy nature, he seems to have a soft spot for me. So, I go for it. I take a risk for once and choose to be spontaneous and have one wild night with my boss.

The only thing that stood out in this book was Jason Clarke. But even his amazing voice/talent couldn’t make up for the lack of plot or depth to this story. There was no build up to Wes and Regan’s relationship nor was there anything to make me root for either of them.

Enjoyable Take on Mulan!
Revisado: 07-08-24
⭐️ = 4
🌶️ = 0 (some sensuality but minimal)
🎧 = 3
This was a fun version of the Mulan story! Though, I did find it a little confusing at times. I’m sure it’s because I was rushing through the story as I found it engrossing and wanted to know what was happening.
It is more of an adult retelling of the tale, though mid to older teens could enjoy this.
I was highly excited to see that it was going to be a series. As I neared the mid-way mark, I thought there was no way the author could tie everything up by the end of the book. It does end on a cliffhanger. There’s a lovely little “attraction triangle” that I cannot wait to see more of.
Meilin is a wonderful character to go through this story with. She’s tough and resourceful, and maybe the most enjoyable thing about her - she has flaws. She’s selfish, she wants power, she wants life. It’s kind of a breath of fresh air from the all too perfect heroines.
My main issue with this story is that there’s so much world and character building that things do get pretty confusing. Especially when it comes to the magic element in this story. Though, I believe the fact that there is at least another book will help smooth that out.
I also have a small issue with the audiobook version. While the narrator was fantastic, and obviously knew Chinese, she just sounded so flatly American! This is just personal preference, but when you have a story that obviously takes place in a world based on a specific culture, it would be far more enjoyable for the narrator to sound like they are actually from that culture and not from America.

Did I think I was going to fall for my coach's daughter? The answer would be no. I'm still unclear on how I got into this predicament in the first place. A year ago, I was a man with one thought on his mind, the redhead I met at a hotel bar. Twelve months later, I found her. Unfortunately for me, she not only happens to be my very off-limits coach's daughter, but also . . . my new assistant and roommate.

So disappointed!
Revisado: 07-02-24
⭐️ = 3 - if I didn’t love Posey so much this would have been lower
🌶️ = 3.5
🎧 = 4
Note: the audio for this book is near perfection as this cast of narrators always is. 🙂
I am SO disappointed! I was really excited for this book but the premise was kind of dumb. Her dad asks Posey to be around her basically 24/7 but he better not do anything with her??? How stupid IS this man?! You sick a guy you KNOW to be a player on your daughter and tell him to make her do absolutely ridiculous tasks to teach her a lesson, all in the hopes of making her regret her decision to quit school? But he better not think of her in any way. Oh no! 🤦🏻♀️. Coach Wood basically served his daughter to Posey on a silver platter and then had the audacity to be angry with Posey for going after that meal like a starved man.
My eyes almost got stuck with as many times as I was rolling them during this book. Posey did NOT get the story he deserved in any way, shape, or form, in my opinion. Wylie is an interesting character, and I loved her journey with her art, but her character was kind of all over the place. I think she could have been a great character with some changes to her storyline but sadly she was not.
Also, while the text threads with the girls made sense, I missed the boys! Posey barely interacts with them in this story and that made me so sad. I love these books for the men and their “found family” friendship, so to lose them for a good portion of this book felt like a major loss. We finally get them at the end of the book in all their loyal glory but it was a bit of a painful slog to get to that point.
I kept hearing how funny this book was and I barely laughed, which is another reason I was so let down by this book. The others made me laugh hysterically, this one only pulled a few light chuckles out of me.

Better than the first
Revisado: 06-17-24
⭐️ = 4.5 - 5
🌶️ = 2.5 - this is a sloooow burn (though enjoyable)
🎧 = 4 - I had to dock a star for the weird female laughing/cackling through the book. It sounded more deranged than anything and was annoying after a while. Though, her singing made up for it!
Aside from his “dark” nature, I just might be in love with Lachlan. I love that he wears glasses. Maybe it’s just me, but I think it gives his character a much needed softness. I really wanted more of Lachlan and his depths but we can only have so many pages. That being said though, this book could easily have been longer with more description and backstory and I would have eaten up.
I enjoyed this book more than the first. I thought we would see more of Lark in her capacity as a singer/songwriter, but again, it wasn’t quite long enough to tell the story AND delve into these characters with too much depth.
Lark having serial killer tendencies didn’t seem to fit the character really well, but it worked.
The audio is fabulous aside from the cackling laughter referenced above.

Word to the wise, never become roommates with a girl you’ve been pining over for the better part of a year. You're probably wondering why I would do such a thing? Well, I didn’t. It was my teammates. The moment they found out Blakely White was single, they took it upon themselves to play cupid and instruct me on how I should win her over. Don't wear a shirt around her. Make her dinner. Lightly touch her shoulder when you say goodbye. I'm so flustered, so overwhelmed, so madly in love with this woman who barely notices me.

Revisado: 03-10-24
This book was SO good! The cast of narrators was tremendous and brought this book to life so wonderfully. So many of the interactions and the text threads had me DYING with laughter! These are the kind of characters you want to be your friends in real life. Halsey was the best romantic lead who had my heart breaking and swooning like a damn damsel.
The addition of O.C. was perfect and I can’t wait to see how he develops over the series.
Hands down one of the best, funniest, and all around enjoyable books I have read/listened to this year, thus far.

I COULD NOT stop listening to this book! The cast of narrators is pure gold! At some point during the first book and this book they ceased being the narrators whose voices I know and became the characters. And what a listening pleasure it was for my ears! Uggghhhh 😩😩😙🤌🏻.
Now to the story - this is such an imaginative series and I am cursing the waiting I’m going to have to do for the third one. Why did I start this?!!
I don’t remember what I was thinking when I went into this series, but I did not expect to spend my entire weekend listening to it because it was so DAMN GOOD.
It grips you and pulls you in tighter and tighter with every chapter you get to know these characters. The plot has enough depth that you know a train wreck is coming but you’re ready for it because you want to see these characters dominate every situation. Not to mention it is funny! I laughed so many times throughout this one.
Eden is a plucky, intelligent, and enjoyable MFC - and somewhat of a super hero with as much as she gives it up to these guys. But, honestly, who can blame the b***h. I can’t.
It is so much fun getting to see her play out the different sides of her personality with these five very different men.
The men….umphh….the men. How do you pick a favorite? They are all damaged in their own ways, lovable in their own ways, and absolutely unique. I loved that we get chapters from every one of their perspectives, because I loved getting to know them. Not all of them get equal POV time and that is a tragedy in its own way because you just want more of them. All of them. Okay - wait - I admit, I have a favorite, but he had to work for it, dammit!
All in all - great story, some good depth here, plot-wise and character-wise, plenty of spice, a fantastic cast of characters and narrators, and some good laughs. Do yourself a favor and listen to it!

Should you get it? Yes!
Revisado: 02-29-24
This series is just so damn enjoyable! Would I like a little more character and story depth? Absolutely. But that’s because I love these characters so much! I want more of them! I love the idea of a group of friends forming a community to help each other out in all aspects of life, because let’s face it - who doesn’t need help every now and again. Watching this “family” grow together is so addicting and I can’t wait for the other two in the series. These books are truly lighthearted, funny, and all-around feel good and smile books.
I will admit that I didn’t love this one as much as the first but that’s entirely due to personal preferences. The accidental pregnancy trope really isn’t my jam, nor did I feel Teddy’s voice really matched Courtney’s character. Again, that is entirely my opinion, and I’ll be the first to admit that even though I felt that, I still think he and Maxine are FABULOUS narrators and bring this story to life! They have to handle so many different voices and characters and yet they effortlessly make it sound like you are listening to an entire cast of narrators.
I’ve read/listened to these books and believe me when I say the audiobooks are the way to go with these stories. The narration is SO good you feel as though you are living the story.

Enjoyable Listen
Revisado: 05-30-23
Was this the greatest story I’ve ever listened to? No. But, it was unique and full of interesting backstories and twists, which makes it an enjoyable, quick listen.
Is the narration really as bad as the other reviews say it is? Yes, and no. The male narrator has a great voice that, at times, was spine tingling in the best ways. The female narrator is also good, and even though her British, male accent reminded me of Vanessa Hudgens’ fake accent in “The Princess Switch”, it was easy to overlook.
The problem of narration comes in whenever a side character is talking. I’m not sure what the idea behind some of these voices was, but they’re downright laughable. Thankfully, the narrators do both Wendy and Hook’s voices very well, which saves the book.
