Revisado: 11-24-24
the narrator is a great fit for this series, although it irks me when the pronouciation for words are sunddenly changed 5 books into the series.
the cliffhanger ending was a bit cruel, now i can't wait for the next book to come out.

No nonsense heroine

Unique twist on the idea of “the invisible man.” The daring of “James Bond” but the female eye of the world and role she sees herself playing. Loved it.

Historia
After a youthful mistake, Lord Dillon's reputation is in tatters, leaving him vulnerable to aristo girls looking for a bit of fun. To restore his reputation and honor, he needs a handfast - a one-year contract of marriage. He sets his sights on Jillian, a young Eyrien witch from Ebon Rih, who he believes has only a flimsy connection to the noble society that spurned him. Unfortunately for Dillon, he is unaware of Jillian's true connections until he finds himself facing Lucivar Yaslana, the volatile Warlord Prince of Ebon Rih.

Black Jewels continues
Revisado: 10-28-20
this is a decent re-entry into the black Jewels world, so if you havent read the prior books in the series I would not recommend starting here. I enjoyed getting to revisit this world for the most part, and am definitely looking forward to seeing where the author will take it next. That being said, I found Surreal's change of character awful for most of the book. She was such a bad ass and aged into this awful self centered weak aristobitch...it was hard to get past, and my irritation with her story line bleed into the rest. She does eventually regain some character by the end. This has inspired me to reread the series again, but I cant see rereading this one unless I totally skip at least the first half
As for the narrator....eh... not the best fit for this series in my opinion. He sounded decent while he was just reading, but for the character dialogue, everyone sounded like a bit like the wicked witch of the west, nasal, old, and creepily sinister. it often took me out of the story.
