Historia
World's changing. Doesn't mean Dredd has to. Mega-City One, 2082. In two short years, Judge Joseph Dredd has tackled hardened killers and would-be revolutionaries; he's taken beat-downs and bounced back; and he's even arrested his own brother. There's no such thing as a 'normal year' in the Big Meg. In his third year on the sked, he'll become embroiled in the growing anti-robot movement; he'll head back out to the Cursed Earth; and he'll fall afoul of the secretive SJS - and not for the last time....

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

A fantastic listen
Revisado: 05-24-23
Loved the story and performance - one of the first times I've become invested enough in a book to reccomend it to others without reservation.
Pace, humor, balance, all on-point for this one.
This is my second experience with Andy Weir's writing and it was just as amazing. Onto The Martian!

Repetitive Story
Revisado: 05-19-23
Truly struggled to finish this one...
As mentioned in other reviews, the formula for any encounter is cookie cutter and frustrating to work through. No character growth or learning; like campy horror film logic applied over and over again. Rush into danger, guns get knocked away, shots always go wide, hair gets pulled, somehow saved by coincidence, leave lose-ends... repeat.
Odd language choices... Guns are called heaters, and the author must have discovered the word "verdure" 3/4 of the way through the series based on its sudden use and frequency.
Ending was also unsatisfying and felt rushed on resolution.
On a positive note, the pace and switching between the two main story threads is balance. The reader does a good job with what she had to work with.
Bottom line: frustrating, unrealistic, and unsatisfying ending

Historia
Wes and Raider have found themselves in the thick of things once again. The KGR are hitting back relentlessly and, with Jessica’s group feared to be wiped out, the homestead falls into a quiet panic. Paranoia is running rampant, and rightly so: there’s a mole who has been working for Spider in their midst. After learning more about how the KGR operate, and where some of their caches are, Wes’s group goes on the offensive. Everything changes with Jess’s revelation; they know they have to keep the pressure up to keep their freedom.

better not stop at book 4
Revisado: 08-20-19
there better be a book 5 in the works... you can't develop all of that and leave it where it stopped at the end of this book (4).
