I often /loathe/ full cast recordings- they may have sound effects that make it difficult to hear the spoken words, that one actor that you just cannot stand, etc. I discovered this book in 1995 because a friend could NOT stop giggling during “super silent reading” in school. I have owned and gifted many copies.

I think this has grown on me and might be my favorite version. It’s just so delightful to hear David Tennant be sarcastic, Michael Sheen just barely hold it together while panicking, and the ensemble doing all the characters justice, ESPECIALLY Shadwell, who is my patronus.

Cute-ish. Not that bad, not her best

Ok, I avoided this one because of the review that talks about Greg (23) being a predator toward Fiona (a naive 18). While the relationship dynamic is, like all of Reid, romantically 0-60 in 5 seconds, they never have sex in college. Not even 2nd or 3rd base. So it’s cute-ish, problematic but not really predatory. It’s also probably just a vehicle to get to Ninja Ever After, more than a stand alone story, as the story jumps immediately from engagement to married, harried and kids.

1. No spoilers, but think Clue with OP… and I am living for it!!!
2. I reserve the right to come back and give the story 3 stars if the third book takes more than a year. No me gusta the after credits scene cliffhanger type ending.

First- I know it’s Ray Porter. But he sounds like James Spader so that’s who I see as Bob in the movie in my head. Noms. But noms aside- what a fantastic narrator!

2- this is wickedly smart sci-fi, hearkening back to the “ship who sang” series by Anne McCaffery. I love how well this author writes humanity and all of our politics and foibles, but still manages to make a dystopian future with optimistic characters. Can’t wait to read the next book.

I can’t even with the narrator

The first narrator is so sibilant on her S and has a really pronounced vocal pattern. Ugh. Had to turn it off less than a minute in. So bad!

A good vehicle for erotic shorts

So, like her other shorts, the short episodes were pretty hot. But unfortunately, there was a lot of shallow quadriplegic knowledge to make it ok to kill off her husband. (Sorry for the spoilers) this was kind of offensive and insensitive. Also, the story’s reader was ok but not fantastic.

Totally Not Virgins

This was hilarious, NSFW, but charmingly smart. I could totally see this on Netflix or HBO as a gross animated series. I need a sequel now. I can’t wait to see what they do next. If you like GOT, Terry Pratchett, or Christopher Moore, you will probably laugh a lot through this audio play. Strong performances make up for some issues with story.

If I wanted to listen to Alan Tudyk have a meltdown...

Well, I would have watched a Disney movie.

Seriously though, though the play is set in LA, both the men sound like AT, even getting kinda King Candy when their character is drunk.

Story wise-both brothers are competing with each other into a crisis. Nobody in the play is likeable. Their crisis of toasters is self made. If I had paid for this I would return it.
