Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

A heavy hitter but a must listen

I love Fredrik Backman's books and how Marin Ireland reads them. Together they pull you into the stories and make you feel everything. Such a powerful story about people and how beautiful and awful we can be to each other

My favorite podcast
Revisado: 04-11-22
okay so it's the only podcast I've tried but a friend recommended it to me. It took me a couple episodes to get into it and am only on episode 15 but I love it. If you want the deep dark details about the crimes then you'll have to do your own research. This is literally just two best friends discussing murder. They explain all that from day one and this is not a serious podcast. So, if you are looking for hard facts and serious, then this isn't for you. But if you want to join two friends discuss murder and laugh (Karen has the best laugh) then check it out.

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

Absolutely worth a listen
Revisado: 04-02-22
I absolutely love this series. the stories are cute and funny and how they are recorded is amazing. I love how the dialog between characters sounds like they're actually talking to each other instead of like the usual where the male and female characters get their own chapters. I've listened to so many other "romantic comedies" and none have been remotely close to how great I think this series is. Super easy listens that are hard to stop and I've listened to a few times each

Historia
A thousand years have passed since a dragon has been seen in the world. Science and technology have replaced magic, which has dwindled until it has become little more than an element of myth and legend. There are those who still have dragon blood flowing through their veins, distant descendants of the mighty creatures of old. These rare humans have the power to cast magic, the power to heal, and the power to craft alchemical weapons capable of starting wars...or ending them.

Narrator ruins it :-(
Revisado: 03-13-21
I love Lindsay Buroker's books and read every Kindle Unlimited one I can find. I read this series ages ago and remember liking it so I couldn't pass up the chance of hearing the first few books for free. It unfortunately was a bust and I had to stop after 5 hours. I'm sad to say that the narrator is awful. Caitlin Davies adds way too much inflection to every sentence making EVERYTHING seem so dire. I just couldn't deal with it anymore. I'd say definitely check out Buroker's actual books and try not to judge her too harshly on this audible edition.

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Struggled to finish
Revisado: 05-06-20
I struggle to finish this book but I'm glad I gave it the chance because the ending somewhat made up for how boring I had found the book.
It was an interesting take on Zelda (because come on it's obviously based very heavily on the Zelda games) which was neat because I grew up playing those games. At the same time, however, the Zelda inspiration is not mentioned in the book's summary so it felt a bit like a rip off to me.
Overall it was a fun and interesting perspective, but I think it spent too much time focused on the leveling up and not enough on the characters themselves.
