Once again Mrs. Obama opens herself, sharing her personal struggles that look just like mine. She allows herself to be seen, warts and all so that we may do the same. Her wisdom is mixed in with her glowing warmth and caring. I don’t know what we, as a nation, did to deserve the Obamas, but whatever it was, I’m so grateful that we did it. We all grow closer as we listen to Ms Obama talk about being “the other” in her childhood, and how it affects all she does…but she rises above the hurt and setbacks to triumph, not just for herself. She does it all because she loves every citizen of our shared country. I always come away from Mrs. Obama’s books with a foundation to be stronger…and she fills me with hope….each and every time. Once again I am grateful for her beautiful perspective. Don’t miss reading this one… and then give copies of it to everyone you love. Their lives will be better for it.

This book pays homage to a little runt pig, who was barely expected to live. It also pays homage to a wonderful soul who adopted the piglet and with love and respect, let him be himself as he grew to his full potential, in all ways...size, personality, emotionally and intellectually. This book shows how this beautiful animal touched the hearts of all who he encountered....and now, this includes me. How wonderful it was to put aside an increasingly mean world to love and enjoy the precious honesty of this animal and the people who lived with and loved. If you have a heart, you will adore this book.

I got this book because I’m a big fan of the author’s TV show, The President Show. The author totally understands who our current occupier of the White House and what drives him. An audiobook is the perfect vehicle because if you didn’t know that it was the author talking, you would swear it was Trump....which leads me to the major problem I had with the book. As outrageous as the dialogue is, I found myself wondering if I was listening to fiction or whether I was listening to a news bulletin. In the beginning and through most of the book, what I was listening to could have happened and could be happening. Our politics under this guy is so unbelievable that the book doesn’t feel like fiction at all. And that’s a terrifying state of affairs. The book is a masterful hatchet job told from the inside out. God help us.

I’m not usually a fan of apocalyptic stories, but this one had me in the first chapter. This book is people centered rather than centering around the usual disaster scenarios. For the most part, you really like these people and cheer for their triumphs and hurt for their tragedies. The things that drive the story, sometimes delving into the mystical, are things that would logically follow each other. You might be thinking that I haven’t said a word about the plot and you’re right. I don’t want to spoil it for you. The best thing I can say about it is that I’m about to see if the next book in the series is out yet and if it is, I’m hoping I have a credit left because I intend to buy it, whether I have a credit or not. Get this one. You won’t be sorry.

A decade ago, I would have said that this is a very implausible plot line. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. When introduced to the characters from widely disparate lives, I couldn't imagine how the author would be able to bring them together. And then he does. What results is a harrowing, and probably fatal, clash, for all involved. I'd love to tell you how it happens, but I think that would spoil it for people starting to or thinking of reading the book. I will respectfully allow you to be surprised as it happens. The author draws us into the lives of each of the characters, each struggling to make sense of his and her lives, and makes you interested in them. The book is a fast paced thriller centered around people desperately trying to make sense of their lives as they spin out of control. (It's hard writing a review when you don't want to reveal ANY part of the plot line in order not to spoil it for potential readers!!!) I enjoyed this book very much. It's really easy to listen to and didn't have any gaps in the action. I look forward to listening to another book written by this author.

I can't do it. I'm over 2 hours into this book and not only is this VERY slow book read in nearly a monotone, everything is so bleak and depressing that I feel like either slitting my wrists or going to a therapist. I have never read such a downer book in my life. I'm returning it. I'd give it zero stars if this was an option.

The story is so improbable that you are going to have to auspend your belief system, but the characters are very like able and the story is such a feel good story that if you are wanting to just get away from reality and enjoy some hours away from this difficult world we live in, you might want to give this book a try.

I have to say that I'm hooked on this series. I love this wise cracking, brilliant service lawyer. The story is fast paced and you probably won't guess the ending half way through like you do with other books. Brian Haig's books are fun to listen to. I hope he continues this series.

The story begins with Barley's puppyhood and the horrors he endured losing his mother and siblings. As he transitions from master to master, Barley picks up insights into humans and their behavior, for better and often for worse. He is a courageous little dog and a definite survivor, filled with love and strength. He hears about the teacher and the gentle words he has been saying. He reacts as much to the emotions behind the words as he does to the words themselves and witnesses the changes those words make in the people who surround him. Finally, he witnesses the "Kind Man" struggling to carry the cross and the final crucifixion....with his master on another cross at the same time. It is an interesting and very real, tragic perspective...much more honest and open than many "official" accounts I have read. I won't spoil the ending for you save to say the Kind Man's words influence the outcome. This isn't the first book I have listened to narrated and written by Mr. Marasco. He seems to be able to really get into the minds of the dogs he writes about. His pets must be very lucky. This book is sometimes painful to listen to, but it isn't enough to make you put the book down. From the beginning, you get very invested in this little dog and you want to follow his life, come what may.

It was very interesting listening to Mr. Henry describe the processes he goes through when accessing his gift. It was also interesting to listen to the insights he has gotten as to what the spirits want to talk about, the reason for their appearances and the process the spirits go through on the other side. Especially comforting was his description of the animals who have come through to acknowledge their owners. I was beyond close to a Yorkshire Terrier who was taken suddenly and unexpectedly. Knowing it isn't the end is very reassuring. With all of that, the book is fascinating. However, I wish Mr. Henry trusted a professional narrator to read his book. His speech is very clipped and therefore not the easiest to listen to. I understand why he chose to narrate his book, but I think it detracted. Aside from that, I'm very happy that I purchased this book. People with his gift obviously go through a lot in order to practice. Who knew?
