Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Wow! I am in awe!
Revisado: 02-04-24
I absolutely loved this story! I am definitely going to listen again. I can’t say that I was a Britney Soears super fan. If she was performing, I watched. If a video came on, I checked it out. I thought she made a successful transition from Disney to the “real world”. But to hear her perspective on what was happening to her up between leaving Disney to the ending of the conservatorship- I am in awe of her as a person, as a woman, as a mother. My favorite movie of all time is the original The Color Purple. Ms. Celie was the strongest woman on the planet. She was patient, she took what life threw at her, gave her, and sometimes shoved down her throat, and she made it into something positive. But her famous line, “Until you do right by me, everything you even think about will crumble”. Britney’s father and mother and even her sister, ex-es have a reckoning. Everyone who decided to push this woman to the brink, then pull back as if nothing was happening and she was crazy for asking will truly have consequences. As she said, “You don’t f-€k with a woman who knows how to pray”. I am in awe with her strength, perseverance, grit, humility, and ability to forgive. The performance was outstanding!! I felt as though it was Britney. Thank you for sharing.

What a wonderful love letter to Mom, DAD, Family, Friends, the Bronx, Mentors, and Fans. I thought that I was a KERRY WASHINGTON fan (obvious Olivia Pope obsessed), but this took me over the edge. I now have a playlist of movies I need to go back and watch or watch for the first time! So many favorite parts in this book, but I loved the fact that Shonda invited Diahann Carroll to the baby shower!! I am a true fan. Thank you! So beautifully written. So beautifully read and performed! Peace and Blessings.

Historia
It was a bleak November in 2012 when Cari Lea Farver vanished from Omaha, Nebraska. Cari, 37, was a devoted mother, reliable employee, and loyal friend - not the type to shirk responsibilities, abandon her son, and run off on an adventure while her dying father took his last breaths. Yet, the many texts from her phone indicated she had done just that. While Cari's boyfriend, Dave Kroupa, and her supervisor were bewildered by her abrupt disappearance, they accepted the texts at face value. Her mother, Nancy Raney, however, was alarmed and reported Cari missing.

This is a powerful story. The protection of your family is beyond words. The grace and mercy bestowed upon you. The entire time I was listening, I kept hearing “Be still and know…” Then when I heard the horrific scene in the woods, there it was- Be Still and Know that I am God. Peace and strength to you and yours. Thank you for sharing your story.

Historia
For 31 years, a monster terrorized the residents of Wichita, Kansas. A bloodthirsty serial killer, self-named "BTK" - for "bind them, torture them, kill them" - he slaughtered men, women, and children alike, eluding the police for decades while bragging of his grisly exploits to the media. The nation was shocked when the fiend who was finally apprehended turned out to be Dennis Rader - a friendly neighbor...a devoted husband...a helpful Boy Scout dad...the respected president of his church. Written by four award-winning crime reporters who covered the story for more than 20 years, Bind, Torture, Kill is the most intimate and complete account of the BTK nightmare

Narration!!!
Revisado: 10-11-22
I read other reviews and thought they were harsh. NOPE!! The voices were indeed disrespectful to everyone. Nothing gets under my skin more than a narrator mispronounce a place! It’s going to happen throughout the ENTIRE book. I live in VA- Wytheville and Galax!!! It’s not hard to check with someone (call the local post office) to hear the pronunciation of the name!! Great story, very detailed, but the narrator pretty much took away from the enjoyment.

Historia
In November 2000, Chicago journalist and music critic Jim DeRogatis received an anonymous fax that alleged R. Kelly had a problem with “young girls”. Weeks later, DeRogatis broke the shocking story, publishing allegations that the R&B superstar and local hero had groomed girls, sexually abused them, and paid them off. DeRogatis thought his work would have an impact. Instead, Kelly’s career flourished. No one seemed to care: not the music industry, not the culture at large, not the parents of numerous other young girls. But for more than 18 years, DeRogatis stayed on the story.

Well Done!
Revisado: 10-03-22
I read a review before I downloaded this book and it said that “Surviving R. Kelly” was the highlight reel to this book. That was SO TRUE! This book goes far and beyond the docuseries. I cannot comprehend how there is still support for R. Kelly after this. Two things resonated with me: Kelly’s comment about “injecting his genius into our culture” and the disregard (by the black community) of black girls. Two things really bothered me: the Minister’s support because God is on him (disregarding the literal 100s of songs just about sexually explicit acts that ‘I believe I can fly can’t make up for) and Rev Jackson’s plea to settle this and move on to more important issues in the black community. This is BIGGER than R. Kelly. Kelly just gives us a visual representation of the hypocrisy, the disregard, cracks in the systems. He provided a visual of the greed that is at the core. Lastly, one thing that made me think- How do you separate the artist from the art? Do you even want to? If not, what does that say about me as a patron? Thank you for this. Stay on it. This is not finished.
