A difficult but necessary read
Revisado: 06-19-24
I am a mother of a child who went through the same experience as Noah’s victims so I related to this book on different levels. Just like I had compassion for Noah, I also had compassion for the boy that touched my daughter. He was a child (12), how could I not? And I knew in my heart he has been/was being abused himself. He later verified that through his court ordered therapy. I can and would never condone his actions, but I’ve never met an abuser that wasn’t abused themselves and as such, I have to offer compassion. I firmly believe that truly seeing life from others viewpoint and experience is the only way we will ever make this world a better place and this book did a great job of that. A hard, but very good read.

I could relate to much of Evelyn’s story. Being known for your beauty isn’t all it’s cracked up to be

The narrators are good, they just didn’t fit the characters for me. Other than that, it was great.

Not my favorite
Revisado: 10-17-23
I don’t leave negative reviews often, mainly because I try to consider the genre and base my review off that. I can’t even do that with this book. I felt like there were too many things that could have gone somewhere, but didn’t. Like this could have been a great book, but wasn’t. It ended up feeling like a cliché with pieces borrowed from other similar books.
The narrator, when not trying for a French accent was great. But he French accent was horrible.

A perfect ending to a great story. I would never have known it wasn’t finished by the original author, but rather her son. I’d say hi did his mother well.

I really enjoyed this book. There are definitely some dark parts but it’s written in a way that you get the point without all the gory details.

Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

I don’t often five 5 stars but…
Revisado: 03-05-23
This book and the performance earned all 5 stars. I can’t imagine reading this myself, it wouldn’t be what it was without the characters performances. I’m some ways, I need a sequel, but then I don’t. Maybe this is the exact ending we all needed.

Life isn’t always pretty
Revisado: 01-23-23
I loved this book- the good, the bad and the ugly. I don’t want a sugarcoated fairy tale, I want real and this book delivered. There are so many kids that can relate to Demon’s story and that’s why this is so important. We can’t just live with our heads stuck in the sand and pretend there aren’t kids suffering in similar situations, some even worse than Demon’s. It needs to be acknowledged or nothing will ever change for them.
