Courageous and heartbreaking

Eloquent and provocative. I wish them every happiness. I wonder if those family members left behind will ever realize just how damaging and cruel their actions (or lack thereof) were. And the staff members who were incredibly transparent in their disrespect and disregard- It isn’t possible to reason with the unreasonable. Thank you for sharing, Prince Harry.

i’ve tried several times to listen to this as I appreciate the history of the American revolution but this narrators performance puts me to sleep. He is simply reading and such a flat monotone voice very disappointing

Worth the Wait!!!!

After years of waiting…..
I free fell back into the world of Jaime and Claire.

A better description might be that I hit the ground running (evidenced by the multiple times I’ve read the 8 preceding books - and many of the LJ books and the “Bulges”) so that when beginning this book, MOBY was fresh in my mind.

I pre-ordered the hardback copy 2 1/2 years ago, but as soon as November hit I knew I’d use the month’s Audible credit to get Davina Porter’s narration! — I’ve LOVED Madam Porter’s narration since the beginning. Her vocalizations of each character are inuitive and believable.

Characters’ stories move forward at a comfortable pace; I savored every word, appreciating the detailed lives of Fraser’s Ridge.

Equally pleasing is the portrayal (pun 😊) of Brianna’s art process.

A couple of shockers, many laugh-out-loud moments and cycles of anxiety- I loved every moment!!!!

I started listening shortly after 3am on the 23rd and finished listening 4 days later - I did stop for Thanksgiving and a few other holiday events!

When the hardcopy arrives, I will take my time reading the written word. This is worth the wait.

Narrator makes this so difficult

…and therefore frustrating!!! Is why was she allowed to read this??? Her voice is sharp and whiny- does not allow for a relaxed session - she does not resonate one iota with the content. Not pleased at all.

Alice Hoffman Never Disappoints

When the movie Practical Magic was released, I was delighted with the story line. I appreciated the relationship of sisters, the pain of unrequited Love, and the message that women could help themselves and were strongest when assembled.

Rules of Magic was FABULOUS; taking the reader through the tail end of the baby boomer era, illustrating self discovery, the futility of ignoring who one truly is, the cruelty of a constantly critical society.

When I heard Magic Lessons was on its way, I wasted no time in pre-ordering and within hours of receiving it, I listened to the entire book. Maria!! A legend 'brought to life.' Once again Alice Hoffman paints a world of women who are dedicated to their own; strong enough to withstand harsh societal oppression and persecution - truly acquainted with the rule of cause and effect. From their romantic lives to their familiars, from innate talent to acquired -- the journey of these women is both inspiring and a cautionary tale. Having listened to this only once so far, you can bet I'll be listening again -- And will be investing in a hard copy for my library. Love these Owens women!!! Thank you Alice Hoffman.

PS - Besides this trilogy, The Probably Future, Seventh Heaven, The Red Garden, are equally worthwhile. So grateful for this prolific author as I continue to read her works!

Big Mistake

Really am suffering through the narration. I might buy the hard copy and read it out loud my self. Difficult to follow the story and her narration is downright dismal. You guys should take this back and have Ms. Campbell narrate WTLE — trust me it would be a refreshing and worthwhile effort. Who made the decision to pick a different narrator?????? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Liked Rules of Magic More

The prequel was more substantial; prefer that narrator. I had to rewind as I’d find myself not listening anymore.
