Historia
This comprehensive and gripping narrative, which received the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for history, covers all the challenges, characters, and controversies in America's relentless struggle against polio. Funded by philanthropy and grassroots contributions, Salk's killed-virus vaccine (1954) and Sabin's live-virus vaccine (1961) began to eradicate this dreaded disease.

Historia
The House of Mirth was Edith Wharton's first great novel. Set among the elegant brownstones of New York City and opulent country houses like gracious Bellomont on the Hudson, the novel creates a satiric portrayal of what Wharton herself called "a society of irresponsible pleasure-seekers" with a precision comparable to that of Proust.

I regularly listen to audiobooks, and I loved every second of this one. I highly recommend it and can't wait to listen to Age of Innocence next.

After 20 years in Britain, Bryson returned to the U.S. and decided to reacquaint himself with his native country by walking the 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail, which stretches from Georgia to Maine. This is his humorous, inspiring account.

Okay, I guess...
Revisado: 06-17-11
I was quite surprised how boring this book was considering the rave reviews it got. I found the narration tediously slow and I think I missed the "funny" parts in the book. Occasionally, Bryson has an interesting 'turn of phrase' but it's not a book that will resonate with me or that I would recommend.

Historia
In the spring of 1974, Calliope Stephanides, a student at a girls' school in Grosse Pointe, finds herself drawn to a chain-smoking, strawberry-blonde classmate with a gift for acting. The passion that furtively develops between them - along with Callie's failure to develop physically - leads Callie to suspect that she is not like other girls. In fact, she is not really a girl at all.

Incredible book and excellent narration
Revisado: 02-08-11
I've been listening to audiobooks for more than 10 years and this is one of the best audiobooks I've ever heard. The story is fantastic and perfect for an audiobook, which is great since this narrator is one of the best I've heard. I was a bit apprehensive because the audiobook is 21 hours long, but it's such an interesting story and compelling narration that I haven't lost interest. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
Passionate, profound, and deeply moving, The Hours tells the story of three women: Clarissa Vaughan, who one New York morning goes about planning a party in honor of a beloved friend; Laura Brown, who in a 1950s Los Angeles suburb slowly begins to feel the constraints of a perfect family and home; and Virginia Woolf, recuperating with her husband in a London suburb and beginning to write Mrs. Dalloway. By the end of the novel, the stories have intertwined, and finally come together in an act of subtle and haunting grace.

Terrible Narration
Revisado: 09-21-10
I've listened to so many books and this narration is one of the worst I've heard. Believe what everyone says: It's terrible. It's unbelievable how Cunningham doesn't even understand the cadence of his own prose. It's like he doesn't even understand the beauty of his own words and sentences. I wish I hadn't wasted a credit on this book. I would rather have read it than listened to Cunningham butcher his own prose.

Amazing book and great narration

This book is amazing! It took a bit of time to get into it, but after I did, I couldn't put it down. It was so well-written and the narration was so wonderful. Highly recommend this one.

Terrible Narration and Terrible Production

Awful. I wish I could get my money back. The production sounds terrible and the narration is awful. I've listened to many, many books and I can't finish this one.

Difficult audiobook to follow
Revisado: 06-14-09
There are three different points-of-view throughout the book, and McCarthy switches perspective frequently throughout the narrative, which can make it difficult to follow in audio version. I kept getting confused as to 'who did what,' which probably is much easier to keep up with in a paper-based version.
