I’m not a fan of writing unfavorable reviews but i feel compelled. This book was just NOT for me. I thought it would be fun and definitely could’ve been if the agendas could be set aside. The bisexual focus was totally unnecessary and did not add to the story at all. If fact, it was a distraction. Also I’m certainly a proponent of getting along but the kumbaya ending to save the world was a bit overdone as well. I will say the narrator was great. She’s what kept me listening. Had i been reading i would’ve stopped the book before halfway.
I understand efforts to unite people in our current political polarization so after I finished the book I went to see if the existing climate was the catalyst for the books agenda. Nope, originally written in 2018 which shocked me more.
Read at your own discretion.

I like historical fiction(or nonfiction) but this story seemed more to take a few historical facts & wrap a lot of sex around it. I completely understand the priority in centuries past with bearing legitimate male heirs but really disappointed at how this story developed. Just wish there were more facts for this woman’s story…

I gave it over 5 hours and tried to stick with it. This just seemed to be a medical class coupled with depressive mental state. I really tried to get to the potential feel good relationship(s) and when i realized it was still not on the horizon i gave up. Sorry if i missed the good parts. Next time please start it earlier.

Started this book on a leisurely vacation because it was lengthy. To my surprise i would wake in the morning to be thinking of all theses characters. The narrators were exceptional in distinguishing between the cast. No spoilers so I’ll leave it with a must read. You will NOT be disappointed. I will be looking to enjoy another book by this author.

Narration was incredibly done. Very tough to switch timelines in mid chapter but she was successful and handled many different characters efficiently. I was able to decipher who was who without having to go back and re-listen to parts.
Entire story was very pleasant to listen to while working!
