Inaccurate
Revisado: 10-24-24
I liked it until it got weird with General Paterson. If you’re going to write a story about real people, it would be nice if it didn’t go so far from the truth. I understand having to fill in the gaps, but completely changing the facts, 🙄. I would’ve rather heard the story how it was, not a bunch of made up stuff.

Historia
Abilene Tucker feels abandoned. Her father has put her on a train, sending her off to live with an old friend for the summer while he works a railroad job. Armed only with a few possessions and her list of universals, Abilene jumps off the train in Manifest, Kansas, aiming to learn about the boy her father once was. Having heard stories about Manifest, Abilene is disappointed to find that it's just a dried-up, worn-out old town. But her disappointment quickly turns to excitement when she discovers a hidden cigar box full of mementos.

It started out kind of weird. It kept me reading to the end though to put it all together. I liked it.

Didn’t love it
Revisado: 05-16-22
I didn’t love the Goose Girl. It’s ok, but I think I will probably pass on other Shannon Hale books. I wish she didn’t included the weird stuff like the women bearing their chests to the army, and other odd details.

Historia
An eye for an eye. Things are looking pretty bleak for Hank the Cowdog. First he gets sick on poisoned bacon grease. Then he accidentally trips Sally May - and she ends up with a broken ankle. And if that's not bad enough, he gets stuck playing dress-up with Amy and Ashley, Little Alfred's cousins. But when Tuerto the Killer Stud Horse breaks free and charges at the girls, Hank knows it's up to him to protect them. He'll show that one-eyed horse who's boss - even if it means risking his own life!

We love Hank the Cowdog! He is so funny for the whole family to listen to. We listen to lots of other kinds of books too, but like to come back to Hank the Cowdog books for when we just need a break and a good laugh.

This classic tale of a remarkable, unaffected five-year-old orphan will charm you, just as Heidi charms her fierce, hermit grandfather when she comes to live with him in the Swiss Alps.

Historia
No one would accuse 11-year-old Caddie Woodlawn of being dainty and ladylike. In spite of her mother’s best efforts, Caddie is as wild as the wind, playing freely and rambunctiously with her two brothers in the Wisconsin backwoods. There are rafts to build and trees to climb and pranks to play. Caddie especially likes to watch her friend Indian John build birchbark canoes at the river. Every day seems wide with possibility - as wide as the frontier. But living on the edge of civilization has its risks, too....
