Historia
After the end of her marriage, Kate Granger has retreated to her parents' home on Lake Superior to pull herself together - only to discover the body of a murdered woman washed into the shallows. Tucked in the folds of the woman's curiously vintage gown is an infant, as cold and at peace as its mother. No one can identify the woman. Except for Kate. She's seen her before. In her dreams...

The ending I did NOT see coming 🤌
Revisado: 01-29-22
I loved this book! It hooked me from the beginning. I loved the story and the characters. They were all loveable, even the main antagonist. The author definitely managed to get you to love and sympathize with them all. Except one, I suppose lol. I definitely thought I had it figured out with about 5-6 hours remaining; however, that twist I certainly did not see coming. I usually can unravel the plot much before it comes, and the author did a fantastic job hiding the biggest secret until the very end.
Now, onto the narrator. I did enjoy her voice, but as other reviews stated, she really does drag out her words to give it a too cool, too relaxed tone. All of the characters had the same drag to their tone with slightly different volumes. At times, most times, it was rather annoying. I just tried to ignore it and move on with the fantastic story as I'm too lazy to read the book myself, so who am I to really judge lol. When Xe Sands wasn't using a character voice, I really enjoyed it. She expressed so much more emotion than when she did dialog.
Overall, if you're looking for a good mystery/ghost story, I highly recommend it. It was an easy listen and easy to follow along with. I would honestly love to see this as a movie or limited series! I know they usually don't do the book justice, but I love to put real faces to the people.

Just couldn't listen a second longer.
Revisado: 01-29-22
This very well could be the best book ever written; however, I won't know until I buy the physical copy. I do not like giving bad reviews. Actually, I'm pretty easy to please. However, the narrator completely ruined this book for me. When he voiced the women, it just sounds like he's mocking them. Honestly bummed because I was so excited to listen to this book as I had been FULLY submerged into the wonderful world that the author had created. S.B Nova, if you're reading these, I am BEGGING you to bless us with the next Outcast book. 🙏

Cute
Revisado: 08-24-21
I wanted a break from long novels with tons of sequels and this was the perfect book for it. funny enough that I found myself finishing this book and wishing for a sequel 🤣 It's a cute story that doesn't require much thinking and I enjoyed that. If your looking for something lighthearted and fun this is definitely it. I'll be looking at the authors other books too, I enjoyed the style and I liked who read it. I didn't have to keep turning up the volume or turning it down as I do frequently with other books.

Hard to get into
Revisado: 07-07-21
struggled to finish, but the last chapter caught my curiosity... finally 😩
Honestly I kind of feel like the author read the Shadow and Bone books and went with that. characters of the same name and a similar feel. That kind of got on my nerves a little bit.

Revisado: 06-19-21
Honestly, I wasn't a fan of the first book, but since I invested so much time in it I'd figured I would continue. This book did not disappoint me. It had much more substance than the first, but It was well worth the wait. I can't wait to start the next one.

Who and what are my two questions.
Revisado: 06-17-21
The very first problem I had with this book is that more often than not, I had no idea who was talking. I'm new to the Audible world as I was brought to it by the Grishaverse series. Those books were very clear on who was who, beginning every narration with who they were. That series set a very high bar for me as it was easy to keep the story organized.
Secondly, what happened in this book? I'm not really quite sure. I listened to the whole thing and I felt like it very slowly lead up to absolutely nothing.
However I did enjoy this book, once I got the characters figured out. (I had to Google it) I was disappointed by the end. The narrators were great, and all did a great job but I feel 2 were very similar and I often had to rewind to catch the beginning of the chapter again. I do plan on reading the rest of the series, as I've already invested so much time. It is a good rebound book, coming off of a series I fell in love with 🤣 so I do reccomend it if you are looking for a casual listen until you find a new world to delve into.

Devastated *Spoiler Alert!*
Revisado: 06-11-21
The fact that I have read the last of this series breaks my heart. I loved this book and everything it had to offer. I hate that I do not know if another will be written. It feels like the Author did a formal closing of the series but left an opening just in case the mood struck her to write another. She created a magnificent world, and if she chooses to leave it as is, then I think this was a wonderful way to end the series.

brilliant!
Revisado: 06-02-21
before starting this book I read the reviews and was worried I was going to be disappointed, but I wasn't. As usual Leigh Bardugo has brilliantly written another book, It was clever and captivating. I feel like the "critics" in the review section just want something to complain about most of the time regarding the narrators, they did a fantastic job too... or maybe I'm just easy to please.
I started this series with the Netflix adaptation and fell in love with the Shadow and Bone books, only to find out that I would love all of the Crows so so much more. I certainly hope the author has another SoC book coming because I'm officially addicted and captivated by the world she created.
