Historia
With her remarkable insight into the human condition and silences that contain multitudes, Elizabeth Strout returns to the town of Crosby, Maine, and to her beloved cast of characters—Lucy Barton, Olive Kitteridge, Bob Burgess, and more—as they deal with a shocking crime in their midst, fall in love and yet choose to be apart, and grapple with the question, as Lucy Barton puts it, “What does anyone’s life mean?”

Historia
Everyone knows everyone in the tiny town of Bourne, but the Mitchell triplets are especially beloved. Mirabel is the smartest person anyone knows, and no one doubts it just because she can’t speak. Monday is the town’s purveyor of books now that the library’s closed - tell her the book you think you want, and she’ll pull the one you actually do from the microwave or her sock drawer. Mab’s job is hardest of all: get good grades, get into college, get out of Bourne.

This is a really good story with excellent narration. It could have used more editing as I is pretty wordy and repetitive at times but it doesn’t ruin it.

Historia
Felix Pink is retired. Widowed for more than a decade and a painfully literal thinker, he has led a life of routine. He occupies himself volunteering as an Exiteer - someone who sits with terminally ill people as they die by suicide, assisting with logistics and lending moral support. When Felix lets himself into Number 3 Black Lane, he’s there to keep a dying man company as he takes his final breath. But just 15 minutes later, Felix is on the run from the police. Now he must discover whether what went wrong was a simple mistake - or deliberate, a murder.

Historia
Hannah Bond has always been a bookworm, which is why she fled Florida - and her unstable, alcoholic mother - for a quiet life leading Jane Austen-themed tours through the British countryside. But on New Year’s Eve, everything comes crashing down when she arrives back at her London flat to find her mother, Marla, waiting for her. Marla’s brought two things with her: a black eye from her ex-boyfriend and an envelope. Its contents? The deed to an apartment in Paris, an old key, and newspaper clippings about the death of a famous writer named Andres Armand.

Stuck with it despite narration

I didn’t care for the narrator’s cadence, which was also inconsistent, and her Scottish accent was unrecognizable but the story was fun.

Compelling but abrupt ending
Revisado: 06-27-18
A little confusing about who's who at first, I loved the characters and how they all ultimately intertwined and I liked how each told a story, much like Dene's film. I felt that the ending was incredibly abrupt and would have liked more closure with some of the characters and was wondering if my recording was missing more as happened once before with another book.

Reclusive literary legend M. M. "Mimi" Banning has been holed up in her Bel Air mansion for years. But after falling prey to a Bernie Madoff-style Ponzi scheme, she's flat broke. Now Mimi must write a new book for the first time in decades, and to ensure the timely delivery of her manuscript, her New York publisher sends an assistant to monitor her progress. The prickly Mimi reluctantly complies - with a few stipulations: no Ivy Leaguers or English majors. Must drive, cook, tidy. Computer whiz. Good with kids.

Love the story, Hate the Maine accent
Revisado: 04-19-17
I love Peter Heller's audible books and while I have not yet finished Celine, I am enjoying it (though not quite as much as Dog Stars and The Painter). However, that said, I cannot bear the Maine accent the narrator uses for Peter and it is making the experience much less enjoyable. I will continue listening, but wanted to check out the other reviews to see if anyone else felt the same way. I see some do.

Sorry I used a credit
Revisado: 07-05-16
I had a very hard time listening to the narrator. He was very flat and when he tried to do female voices, it was embarrassing. The story was not compelling enough for me to continue through the last few hours of listening.

Historia
Douglas Petersen may be mild-mannered, but behind his reserve lies a sense of humor that seduces beautiful Connie into a second date...and eventually into marriage. Now, almost three decades later, they live more or less happily in the London suburbs with their moody seventeen year-old son, Albie. Then Connie tells him she thinks she wants a divorce. The timing couldn’t be worse. Connie has planned a month-long tour of European capitals, a chance to experience the world’s greatest works of art as a family, and she can’t bring herself to cancel. And maybe going ahead is for the best anyway? Douglas is privately convinced that this landmark trip will rekindle the romance in the marriage, and might even help him to bond with Albie. Narrated from Douglas’s endearingly honest, slyly witty, and at times achingly optimistic point of view, Us is the story of a man trying to rescue his relationship with the woman he loves, and learning how to get closer to a son who’s always felt like a stranger.

Perfect antidote to A Little Life
Revisado: 04-28-16
I loved A Little Life and US is the perfect follow up book to relieve some of the emotion. The narrator of US is excellent and the story is light enough to be fun and interesting enough to be compelling and real enough to be believable. The main character is so honest and funny. Highly recommend this unheralded gem.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

The narration is fantastic. I will remember the voice and the accents forever. Was a little wordy and longwinded in parts (painful actually) but overall I enjoyed it greatly.
