Historia
Ayla, one of the most remarkable and beloved heroines in contemporary fiction, continues to explore the world and the people around her with curiosity, insight, and, above all, courage. As the story opens, Ayla, Jondalar, and their infant daughter, Jonayla, are living with the Zelandonii in the Ninth Cave - a shelter of stone. Ayla has been chosen as an acolyte and has embarked on the arduous task of training to become a spiritual leader.

Repetition, repetition, repetition...
Revisado: 07-14-24
Still don't like Ayla's new accent...if I had to hear the "mother's song" one more time I was going to scream...each book got more and more repetitious...if you take out all the unnecessary repetitions, this book would only be about 2 chapters....glad it was the last

AGAIN...way too much detail in the descriptions of their "love making" totally not necessary...doesn't really add to the story

good story

I have loved these books, however... I'm not a prude, but the extreme descriptions of their "love making" borders on "smut" and is truly not necessary for a good story...

Historia
Magic is fading... and the ways of Man are driving the Old Ones to the West, beyond the ken of humankind. The ancient groves are being destroyed, and if nothing is done, Ireland will lose its essential mystic core. The prophecies of long ago have foretold a way to prevent this horror, and it is the Sevenwaters clan that the spirits of Eire look to for salvation. They are a family bound into the lifeblood of the land, and their promise to preserve the magic has been the cause of great joy to them... as well as great sorrow.

strange narration
Revisado: 02-09-23
the quality of the narration was very off putting...it sounded like parts of it were "overwritten" on a different recording that sounded louder and had a slight echo...I almost returned this book because of it...but wanted to hear the books after this and didn't want to miss anything. If I relisten to this series I will skip this book.

love this book!
Revisado: 03-17-22
this has always been one of my favorite books, and was happy to see it as an audio book, however, severely disappointed in a voice that is not only obviously twice the age of the character, but is also obviously British...such a travesty...
