Historia
In a remote corner of the Chickasaw Nation, tribal Lighthorse policeman Bill Maytubby and county deputy Hannah Bond discover the buzzard-ravaged body of Majesty Tate, a young drifter with a blank past. They comb Oklahoma's rock prairie, river bottoms, and hard-bitten small towns for traces of her last days. Tate was seen dancing with Austin Love, a violent local meth dealer fresh out of prison. An Oklahoma City motel clerk connects her with an aspiring politician. An oil-patch roustabout and a shady itinerant preacher provide dubious leads.

Best book in series
Revisado: 03-26-23
I totally the Joe Pickett series but this one is my favorite so far. The author used some cool techniques showing different character perspectives in various scenes which was cool, but the overall plot was fantastic.

Please find another Narrator!
Revisado: 01-30-22
I have enjoyed these books so far but I am at a point where I can no longer stand the way Laurel Schroeder constantly drops the end of EVERY sentence. OMG, my nerves can't take it any longer. I usually have to stop the book and come back later because it becomes like nails on a chalk board. Please just read the lines straight!
Other than that, I love this series so far for the writing, dialogue, topical matter, etc. The narrator is the only turn off.

I like the story, but the narrator... geez
Revisado: 12-14-20
I do like the storyline and the characters. The story keeps me interested but the narrator just has bad timing and vocal inflections. They can be distracting. If it wasn't for my interest in the story itself I wouldn't have been able to hang in there. Please fund a good narrator for future books!

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

holy cow 32 hours of run on and on
Revisado: 11-18-20
The author took 32 hours to tell a story that was abt 8-10 hours long. I got lost in her constant goings on in extreme detail of thoughts or explanations. It was grossly depressing many times through the drug abuse and manic episodes. My mind wandered away from what would have been a pretty good story otherwise. this book doesn't exactly make me want to read more of her books.

Historia
On a dark, wintry day, Eliza Grey receives a mysterious letter from her ailing Nana Mora begging her to come for a visit. This is an easy "Yes". Eliza has always preferred Nana Mora's beach cottage on St. Simons Island to the apartment she and her mom call home in the city. The island is a magical place where stories and legends grow as thick as the Spanish moss dangling in the trees. Now, Nana Mora's eyesight is fading, and there's something she wants to show Eliza before it’s totally gone: a mythical place locals refer to as Sirens Harbor.
