Thoroughly enjoyed the book. Was hesitant to purchase the first two books since it has been over 20 years and book 3 seems nowhere in site. I will now sit (like millions of others) and await book 3 to see what happens to Kvothe.

I love the Firebird series and the Audible version did not disappoint! not sure why several reviewers struggled with the narrator. She wasn't my favorite, but she did a good job. I have downloaded and listened to over 100 books on Audible and the narrator is definitely above par. If you enjoyed the books when they were first released, you will enjoy this audio version

Liked the Story, Struggled with the Performer.

I have enjoyed each book in the Pendergast series, and this one did not disappoint. My only negative comment is the reader/narrator/performer. After enjoying the likes of Scott Brick, and especially Rene Auberjonois, it was difficult to adjust to William DeMeritt. Particularly notable is his feminine voices. His portrayal of Constance nagged me throughout the story. Again, this may be due to the excellent performance of this character in previous books by Rene Auberjonois. If the authors collaborate on another Pendergast book, please use another performer.

Just Didn't Like Any Character

The characters never really appealed to me. Things seem to go from bad to worse for each person. I purchased the books because I could not pass up 42 hours of listening and I like the author and narrator. Probably won't go for books 4 and 5 unless they bundle them together for one price.

Interesting story that paints a view of the Central Velley of California in one-sided, narrow manner. Interview's someone from Ripon which is 175 miles from Tulare. Valley is 450 miles long. Water is not owned by a select few.
