This is a very edifying book as scripture is its main story which is highlighted by mature pastoral insights from one who knows God and has been through some storms of life with Him. Max Lucado has been good soil himself for the word to permeate and blossom. His experience as a pastor has raised his ability to touch the heart where one wants more grace to inspire more spiritual growth on the path to greater maturity in Christ.

A triumphant story would have a foundation of leaning in and trusting God step-by-step which I didn't think was quite the height of this book. The presence of God was continuous in the events of her life, but the fervor is not there to flame the gift present to her. She didn't seem to take the responsibility to seek God as she should but relied on the strong faith of her parents beyond the age where she should take more initiative. Many may find the story inspiring that God is there and working on our behalf even if we lack enthusiasm about the grace available to us. God never leaves us or forsakes us and is patient and will continue to seek to bless us more, but He cannot do that if we seek answers elsewhere and maybe also with God but without any commitment. Wavering back and forth between leaning on people and natural means and then pray but then turn away to get relief elsewhere will not bring the grace of God to bear in one's situation.

EPHESIANS 3:20 | Now to Him Who, by the action of His power, that is at work within us, is able to carry out His purpose and do superabundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or think infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams—

Our God is a covenant God and requires that we participate in the divine nature as 2 Peter 1:3-4 states. "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire."

Based on Psalm 23, it is hard to miss satisfying just about anyone. However, people have a broad base of needs, this book is recommended for everyone and some would be more content than I was. The author, Max Lucado seemed to follow a thread that is most common among Christians from his experience, which has to do with trials and especially end of life issues. I would prefer more focus on intimacy with God and His Good Shepherd care on the journey. Max didn't miss that part, but he didn't seem as influenced by that subject in a way that speaks to me as much as I would desire. However, overall he covered the Good Shepherd care that Psalm 23 rests on.

This study on financial wisdom is limited to the one book of Proverbs where approximately 1.5 min average, is given for commentary successively to the verses in proverbs. There are100 of these and each begins with the verse and some comments are made. This is an excellent book for late elementary school and high school.

I was looking for something more appropriate to an adult and this content was aimed at a less experienced person. It lays the foundation and gives a good simplistic overview of wisdom and finances based on Proverbs alone.

A good book to me would have content that is at the level of maturity beyond the elementary and intermediate and would have to include the New Testament and have the trials of life accounted for, as basic financial facts are just a foundation.. Understanding relationship with God and the needs in this life and how God takes care of us in emergencies, etc. requires something more pastoral by someone who would have matured and have been through some things. God is our provider and our intimacy with Him brings power and harmony into the natural realm. An in-depth study would need to include other books and especially the New Testament where we see persecution and need to trust God when at a precipice. Suddenlies and hard places require more faith. Elementary school-age and High School students would benefit from the foundational content of this book.

Reveals The Teaching of Jesus on Conversion

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 11-26-10

This audiobook is focusing on the matter of the Lordship of Christ being preeminent when one seeks salvation. Rev. MacArthur points out that one cannot get saved and make Jesus Lord later, He is Lord over one's life when one comes for salvation, or it is an indication that one is not turning one's life over to Him. Such a position would mean that one is not then translated out of the Kingdom of Darkness and into the Kingdom of Christ as one would be coming with reservations and not really to repent and convert. Instead, one would be seeking something with an ulterior motive, a somewhat deceptive action of seeking something without a change, without being convinced that Christ is the Way, the Truth and The Life, but just a way to avoid judgment and punishment for sin. He points out that Jesus requires that one be translated out of the Kingdom of Darkness and into His Kingdom, or one is not save.

Each day Dodie Osteen gives a short teaching that will encourage you to trust in God though you feel defeated and beaten up by the calamities of life. She was herself, healed of liver cancer when given two weeks to live. It took nine months to totally be free of it. She had to take her healing by faith as the doctors could offer her nothing. Her husband, the late John Osteen was a famous faith teacher, an ordained Baptist minister who came to faith for his daughter's healing of cerebral palsy and his own heredous back problem that gave him in excruciating pain. The book will give you the scriptural foundation for faith as well as the inspiration.

Much Wisdom, Strong Bible Knowledge

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 11-26-10

Morning and Evening by C. H. Spurgeon is very edifying listening. He knows the scriptures very well and has much wisdom. He uses Elizabethan Language and one must pay close attention to benefit from the depth of widom laced in his silver-tonged style. He is very learned and very descriptive with words, that with the "thous," and "thees," make it necessary to listen closely, but if you do, it will be very worth your while. You have to think with him as you listen as he loads his words with great depth of meaning. The book contains a short teaching for the morning and evening of each day, so it is not hard to focus. The spiritual depth gives one a divine connection where one is lifted above the natural realm to where the Holy Spirit can feed your spirit.
