Historia
Ollie Wright loves the thrill of taking chances, like opening a pet grooming salon in an airport where every day is a little unpredictable. The one thing she won't risk is her heart, so catching glimpses of a cute stranger from afar is enough romantic entanglement for her.

a Solid okay
Revisado: 10-09-22
Fell a bit flat for me, the story was cute. But I just couldn't get into it. I think some more about a guy writing in an industry largely written and purchased by women would have been nice. And the comments about the spiciness of his writing by other women felt odd. I could joke about vibrator batteries with friends, not a stranger I just met at a pool.

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

Delightful
Revisado: 08-26-22
This was just pure sweetness injected into my - well ears I guess.
The actors/narrators really seemed to be enjoying themselves even.
Just imagine one of your favorite rom-coms and but as a lower budget radio play.

Touching and kind of adorable
Revisado: 04-24-22
Lucy Parker and Billie Fulford-Brown have become a bit of an auto buy for me. Parker's writing can get a little angsty at bits, but for the most part is pretty light and funny. although this book had some very touching parts about family, that even made me cry a bit. The only thing that felt odd was the interactions with the royals, I get they are people, but also there were a lot of personal things aired in front of two bakers.

Would have been an okay book without the FMC
Revisado: 08-13-21
I probably would have dnf'd this if it hadn't been on audio. David Monteath the narrator I think tried, but I just couldn't. Maybe a female narrator would have made Tara less ridiculous or insipid, but I doubt it. What's funny is all the other characters where okay, I didn't love any of them, but I didn't hate them. Tara was the one who dragged it all down.
Also I got tired of the whole "virgin" sacrifice deal. I guess it's a good excuse to bang (yep the only way to stop the baddy is to bang it out) , but I know I'm not the only one who's tired of the idea that putting a P in a V is all that magical. Or anti magical in this case.
Also the romance was too cheesy for me and some the language was too purple prose for me. Just not my cup of tea.

Historia
When Gunnar Long is transported into the first fully-immersive virtual MMORPG, he finds himself in a new world filled with magic, mystery, and adventure. No more 9-to-5 job. No more studio apartment. No more reality TV. Finally, he's in a place where he can call home, a place with people he can call friends. But as more people want to trade their real world lives to get inside Eden's Gate, the government of the outside world wants the "game" shut down at all costs.

Boring and unoriginal,
Revisado: 04-18-21
I Hate finished this.
An Americanized isekai for straight men who haven't ever played video a game in the last decade, or have somehow avoided Sword Art Online.
The MC of this thing is Gunner, a skinny, anti social gamer boy who doesn't have friends, somehow has a nice girlfriend and one of the "lucky" 5 million people murdered by the game maker.
Trying to keep this brief, the premise is Gunner sucks at life until he is sucked into Eden's Gate where suddenly he unlocks all his real potential to be a real boy once he is permanently sucked into a video game world. I got the feeling he was trying to come off as awkward, but he turned out just being kinda skeevy, I lost count of his internal dialogue of the NPC's and Monsters boobs. The book takes place over 6 days and somehow by the end of it suddenly Gunner finds value in friends and has morals. He also has plains by the end to date an elf girl while his girlfriend is likely in the game with him.
And to top off this thing the Doctor who murdered 5 million people, who trapped them all involuntarily into a boring Tolkien rip off world, is written as a good man who gave all these people a better life. He faces no punishment for what he did. They make it sound like every person in the game is better off. Completely ignoring the fact that there had to be children and family members in the game now who are separated from their families.
There is also the really unbelievable part of the story of US government agreeing on anything and enacting a plan of action with in a week. Having my soul sucked into a video game is more believable.
I should add the narrator was alright, I didn't love him , but he did okay on all the non female characters.

Historia
Lord Nathaniel Harte, the disagreeable duke of Beswick, spends his days smashing porcelain, antagonizing his servants, and snarling at anyone who gets too close. With a ruined face like his, it's hard to like much about the world - especially smart-mouthed harpies (with lips better suited to kissing than speaking) who brave his castle with indecent proposals. But Lady Astrid Everleigh will stop at nothing to see her younger sister safe from a notorious scoundrel, even if it means offering herself up on a silver platter to the forbidding Beast of Beswick himself.

It was a solid okay
Revisado: 04-09-21
I really liked the premise and the start of this book, but the scarred aristocrat/duke who can't be loved because he's so hideous, has been done a few times already and by the last 3rd I was a little bored with this one. Plus it just got a little cheesier than I liked.
The narrator did a pretty good job too.

Historia
Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury's to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne'er-do-wells by night. Now there's a new item on the list. He needs an heir - which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar's daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she'll do.

This is one of my new favorites!
Revisado: 08-28-17
Who was your favorite character and why?
I enjoyed both the main characters, but Emma was especially enjoyable for the shear lack of time she spent sitting around feeling sorry for herself.
Have you listened to any of Mary Jane Wells’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but no I want to listen to all of them now, she is defiantly my new favorite narrator. She puts fantastic emotion behind the characters and I could almost always tell them apart from each and the narrating. I had to go read the the paper back version to to decide if it was just the narrator that made me enjoy the book.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Unicorn vomit, of all things, made me almost snort coffee out of my nose.
Any additional comments?
Only a few other authors have ever made me laugh out loud as much as Ms. Dare did, and I didn't think I'd find another romance author I enjoy as much as Julia Quinn.

A thrilling new series soars above the competition and redefines middle-grade fantasy fiction for a new generation! The seven dragon tribes have been at war for generations, locked in an endless battle over an ancient, lost treasure. A secret movement called the Talons of Peace is determined to bring an end to the fighting, with the help of a prophecy - a foretelling that calls for great sacrifice. Five dragonets are collected to fulfill the prophecy, raised in a hidden cave and enlisted, against their will, to end the terrible war.
