Historia
Every day, whether they’re competing in the business world or serving in a nonprofit, women hear that they’re not enough. They’re too emotional to lead, and the way they act, speak, and even think is detrimental to success. But in Lead like a Woman, former Fortune 500 executive Deborah Smith Pegues shows that your uniquely female qualities can position you for success - if you know how to use them.

Informative
Revisado: 11-06-22
The author gives practical steps to living the fullest and leading with all your spiritual gifts and talents. Leadership is not black or white, neither female or male. There are grey areas the author helped us to better define and develop strategies to help us all be more than conquerors.

Historia
Freeman, the new novel by Leonard Pitts, Jr., takes place in the first few months following the Confederate surrender and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Upon learning of Lee's surrender, Sam - a runaway slave who once worked for the Union Army - decides to leave his safe haven in Philadelphia and set out on foot to return to the war-torn South. What compels him on this almost-suicidal course is the desire to find his wife, the mother of his only child, whom he and their son left behind 15 years earlier on the Mississippi farm to which they all "belonged".

Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Historia
Moments after Lisbeth is born, she’s taken from her mother and handed over to an enslaved wet nurse, Mattie, a young mother separated from her own infant son in order to care for her tiny charge. Thus begins an intense relationship that will shape both of their lives for decades to come. Though Lisbeth leads a life of privilege, she finds nothing but loneliness in the company of her overwhelmed mother and her distant, slave-owning father.

I could not stop listening
Revisado: 02-20-20
Yellow Crocus was such a moving story. I fought back tears when Samuel ran away and Mattie was beaten. When Elizabeth left Virginia I cheered. This is a moving story that should be read in schools. Elizabeth helps us to see that racial tensions can be lessen with just one brave decision. The decision not to hate. Despite the story timeline it is indeed a modern day tale that we can all learn from.

Riveting
Revisado: 02-13-20
I listened to the book on my way to work. I would leave early simply so I would have a few extra minutes to sit in the car and finish a chapter. The stories truly hit home. My grandmother lived in the south. My mother would tell me stories about her life with her grandmother and her two sisters. The images were so vivid. This story was beautifully told. The reader gave Tangy Mae such life. I cried for her. This story is so moving. It saddened me to find out that the author had passed away and never had a chance to finish the second book. I am a true fan of Delores Phillips! Bravo!!!! I wanted more.
