Historia
The kingdom stands on the brink of chaos. Atticus's grip on the realm is faltering, and as threats arise ever closer to home he is driven to increasingly desperate acts to hold onto power. With Islor's fate now in the balance, Zander stands to defend the Rift from the oncoming Ybarisan army. With the king's forces scattered, he must risk unlikely new alliances. And behind the walls of Ulysede, secrets wait for its new queen. Romeria knows that the paths of the hidden city will lead her to answers. But will they be enough to save the realm—or is their fate already sealed?

Stunning and breathtakingly written!
Revisado: 05-13-24
This story is a 10/10 and now I am counting down the days until the 4th book comes out! I really hope that we go beyond 4 books and it continues on for several more, telling the story of the children and so on!
We’re left with a cliffhanger about Atticus. And even though he was pinned as the villain, we really learned so much more about him in this book. Kinda fell in love with him and with Gracen. She’s perfect for him. I think she should bear him a child of his own — a miracle hybrid child, possibly a keycaster since her daughter Suri is already one.
More of Romeria and Zander and what happens with the war they encountered is a question that haunts me now! I really can’t wait! I want to see them have children of their own too.
I am also very curious as to how Annika makes off with Tyree, that treacherous brother of Romeria’s! He stole the Princess! I’m sure Zander and even Atticus will have a bone to pick about that, if Atticus survives. Would love to see the brothers reconcile around this task!

Historia
From jewelry thief to interloper to queen-in-waiting, Romeria flees Cirilea a traitor to all. But the yawning distance between her and Zander troubles her more than any king’s bounty on her head. While Zander may have escaped by her side, he seeks to regain his throne, and no immortal will ever welcome her as Islor’s queen. She fears it won’t be long before Zander abandons her as everyone else she’s ever loved has.

Incredible story, exceptionally crafted.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue this series for 10 plus books!!!! There is a dire need in the world for this type of IP to rise, like Hogwart’s Legacy. It’s as beautiful as those books and I can certainly see it become a movie series like Harry Potter and even continue on with the children and their tales in TV shows. It’s THAT good!
Rolling straight into the 3rd book and then like everyone else will impatiently await the 4th!!! A++++ 10/10.

The story and world are beautifully crafted!
Revisado: 05-10-24
This is by far and wide 10x better than other similar stories of elves and vampires by a mile. I started reading the first book of the ACOTAR series and it absolutely pales in comparison to this one. Started with the narrated and then tried out the dramatized version; still could not finish it.
Absolutely loved this world. The way the story unfolds and drops you right into it within the first few chapters is flawless storytelling! You immediately feel for Romaria (FMC) and her plight. You cannot help but fall in love with her. Her evolving connection with King Zander (MMC) is subtle but powerful. And you find yourself rooting for them.
Can’t wait to dive into the next book! I hope this series continues on for several more books. Love this world.

Historia
Veterinarian Marie Lehr knows unrequited love all too well after pining for her best friend, only to watch him marry another woman. It's a mistake she will never make again, especially not when she can practically hear the clock ticking on her childbearing years. The trouble is, she can't seem to find anyone who appeals to her even a fraction as much as that burly bush pilot did. Competitive musher Tyler Brady certainly doesn't, especially not after the heated altercation with the handsome but arrogant, spiteful man. Or so she thinks.

Need more of all 4 main characters of the series!
Revisado: 11-25-23
I found myself reading this book to catch glimpses of Jonah and Calla’s post-wedded bliss. And there certainly are those. But the book centered around Marie (who had pined away for Jonah for years) moving on and finding her own way and someone that would fit into her life the way that Calla fits into Jonah’s.
The story of Tyler, a heartbreaking one, is really good and the enemies-to-lover trope of how he finds himself attracted to Marie is fabulous. It is a typical trope and one that was briefly touched on in the first book with Calla and Jonah themselves being an “opposites attract” storyline so that may be where people think it’s unoriginal. But ya know most stories are!!! People have been writing books and stories for over a millennia!
Overall, it’s a great book 4 BUT I’d say Jonah and Calla’s story over the first three books was slightly better. And if the author wants to continue with the series, I’d very much add more Jonah and Calla to them with sprinkles of Marie and Tyler.
Marriage has so many trials and tribulations that a series could continue for decades and Jonah and Calla are opposite enough to give us the best of them. And there are so many lessons to learn from such a story.
I am a director/writer/producer. I have written a bit for AAA video games like the JEDI series and The Last of Us and many more that I’ve had a very small hand in. So, I’d very much love to turn this series into a trilogy of movies. And as such I wonder who we’d love to see play Jonah and Calla???

Gut punching and emotional but beautifully sweet!
Revisado: 11-15-23
I fell in love with the main characters of Calla Fletcher and Jonah Riggs. But honestly, I was equally swept off of my feet by Wren Fletcher (Calla’s Dad) and the love that still burns deep for Susan, Calla’s mother. And my heart was thirdly done in by Simon, Susan’s current husband and probably the best literary stepfather to have ever been put to paper.
This story made me cry several times over as it does deal with a cancer diagnosis. And there was a one very MILD sex scene and the implied sex in other parts. I would NOT label this as a spicy novel.
On to reading the second book!

Historia
This Psych 312 assignment just might send me off the deep end. Determining whether love at first sight really exists with Robbie Moravian as my project partner of all people? He’s the sappiest man alive, so upbeat I could scream, and clearly rooting for happy endings at every turn. How does he not learn from experience considering our own meet-cute last semester almost got us expelled? But we both need to pass this course to graduate. So we’re interviewing five random couples about their meet-cutes and relationships and spending all this time together. Which is certainly...educational.

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

A cheeky love story in an improbable circumstance that had me salivating for the next chapter. I listened to this one in one felled swoop!
The major bonus was how much chemistry the voice performers had! They were incredible together. They made this book feel more like a performed audio drama rather than a novel and that’s a big big plus!!! Absolutely stellar!
Most definitely recommend!!

It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

Loved this romance! A bit weird (unrealistic) ending but everything else was amazingly done!
I’ve always liked the idea of getting to know someone before you actually meet because that’s how I met my husband. We met in World of Warcraft and played together for like 2 years before we ever met. So this makes me think of that. It’s beautiful!

More important, Merrin, Cere, Greez, and faithful droid BD-1 are the closest thing Cal has had to a family since the fall of the Jedi Order. Even as the galaxy’s future grows more uncertain by the day, with each blow struck against the Empire the Mantis crew grows more daring.

A more mature take on the story of this crew!
Revisado: 06-14-23
First, a little bit about me. I am 48, straight married female, consider myself an ally to my beautiful LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters. I am also CEO of my own video game development company since 1997. I have been a fan of Star Wars since 1977 and I am REALLY into all the stories --- films, shows, books, etc. I am an original trilogy baby, thus that's my favorite of all the films. Rogue One to me was a masterpiece that led us straight into A New Hope and everytime I see it, it makes me want to see the OT all over again. I loved the prequels, with all its flaws, and I don't consider myself a sequel "hater" at all, but I did have some problems with those films, yet still I am a fan of ALL Star Wars. I have LOVED the video game stories probably the most out of everything, not surprising because of my background.
Overall, this is certainly a more adult book and not really for young kids. If you are a fan of the video game story of Jedi: Fallen Order, you'll get a glimpse into Merrin's thoughts and personality a lot more in this book. The story is really centered around her, not necessarily Cal Kestis. Which I think could be a negative point if folks really expected this story to be about him.
But as a fan of Merrin's, I loved learning more about her. She's definitely "xeno"-sexual in this book --- a term I coined myself because of the various races that we have in this franchse. She swings all the ways you can swing and I am not mad at that at all. I love that part of her. She loves because she loves. There is something really great in that.
I know people will balk and say that doesn't belong in Star Wars, but I disagree. I think LOVE in general is a HUGE part of this franchise, it started with Han and Leia, then moved back in time to depict the love of Anakin and Padme, and forwards again to see Ben Solo and Rey. Love, and all the messiness of it, makes for great, realistic drama in storytelling.
The story of the "Shroud" technology is pretty good but at times can be boring; I mean a "cloaking device"? You have a cloaking device onboard with Merrin and her Ichor Talisman --- sooooo.... yeah? But the book isn't about the story of this device, its about the story of this crew. They all have different goals, and probably never talked about them before. This book dives into those differences and how they chose to resolve them --- for now. And in that, I loved it!
The performances are A+++ stellar for this audiobook and Star Wars delivers yet another amazing Audiobook filled with sounds, music, and amazing voice actors that are chameleons with their voices. S-Tier!
