amazing
Revisado: 08-14-18
I read this book in conjunction with doing Dr Brewer's Unwinding Anxiety programme delivered through an app. the programme is ongoing and has already begun transforming my life.
The entire experience can only be described as evolutionary, it penetrates into all areas of my life and helps in all other spheres of growth and development. I'm going to re-read the book and several of my clients and friends have since begun using Dr Brewer's other apps.
I highly recommend this book and, if you would like to apply the knowledge, the programmes as well.

In A Mind at Home with Itself, Byron Katie illuminates one of the most profound ancient Buddhist texts, The Diamond Sutra (newly translated by distinguished scholar Stephen Mitchell), to reveal the nature of the mind and to liberate us from painful thoughts, using her revolutionary system of self-inquiry called "The Work". Byron Katie doesn't merely describe the awakened mind; she empowers us to see it and feel it in action.

One of the best books ever, a must read
Revisado: 12-15-17
This book continues to change my life.
Down to the very last word in the afterword it's pure gold in value.
this book equipped me like no other with skills that I was severely lacking, and showed me that those skills are not something you are born with, or are raised with, but you can learn them and become a master of them in adult life.
The book doesn't only help with crucial conversations, it promotes mindfulness, patience and inner peace, which of course translates into outer peace, better relationships with others and self.
I've listened to it twice already, and it's a definite reference book for decades to come.
Thank you so much to the authors for writing this gem. And for making it audible :)

Historia
We all worry about what others think of us. We all long to succeed and fear failure. We all suffer, to a greater or lesser degree, usually privately and with embarrassment, from status anxiety. For the first time, Alain de Botton gives a name to this universal condition and sets out to investigate both its origins and possible solutions. He looks at history, philosophy, economics, art, and politics, and reveals the many ingenious ways that great minds have overcome their worries.

I'm rereading it as soon as I've finished, right now! I never wanted this book to end.
the most thought provoking, funny, wise and skillful writer I have come across in years.
the reader is really good too! I was worried that after listening to How To Be A Woman read by Caitlin Moran herself, I'd be ruined for anyone else reading her work. however this reader conveyed her essence really well.
all in all, I'm grateful to be alive in the same century as this author.

On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.
