This new series rocks! I love how it spreads attention to many more characters, although it takes away from some (that Russian character).

All they can do is try to bring a few thousand people to safety, before vicious aliens arrive to destroy humanity's home world. No. There is one other thing they can do: hit the enemy so hard that the aliens will regret they ever heard of humans.

Love this book, I was enjoying every minute of the book, all the time hoping to have many years listening to more of "Expedition Force", but the last ten minutes of the book left me with a sour taste, so now I am in a daze cussing at Craig, yet hoping he has the next book out next week.

Historia
Earth’s first colony ship finally reaches the target world. The excitement of planetfall is indescribable, but quickly transforms into sick disappointment when they find the atmosphere is a roiling mass of hydrochloric acid, carbon dioxide, and other deadly poisons. They fly onward, seeking better planets. They find them, but none are ideal. The search goes on for a century, then longer still. As they move farther from Earth, aliens discover the intruding ship, and they begin to investigate humanity. They find our species unacceptable.

Blaaah!
Revisado: 10-06-19
Poorly developed everything, it was a bad plot, crummy characters and unimaginative story line.. IT made no sense, not suspenseful, and held no interest for me to continue after chapter 10. I usually get great books from B.V. Larson, but even the best authors sometimes produce crap.
Fortunately I know how to do returns to get my credits back.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Best series ever
Revisado: 07-08-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Columbus Day to be better than the print version?
Yes, the voices does improve the experience for me.
Who was your favorite character and why?
That darn beer-can, because I love the abuse that he doles out to us primitive monkeys.
Have you listened to any of R.C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
RC Bray is just one of the best narrator I ever come across, his voice characters are so authenic, that many times I believed that there are multiple people doing some of the voices.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Skippy came into being
Any additional comments?
I can't wait for the next book in the series.... I feel like a giddy school girl

Historia
The first book in C.J.Cherryh's eponymous series, Foreigner begins an epic tale of the survivors of a lost spacecraft who crash-land on a planet inhabited by a hostile, sentient alien race. From its beginnings as a human-alien story of first contact, the Foreigner series has become a true science fiction odyssey, following a civilization from the age of steam through early space flight to confrontations with other alien species in distant sectors of space. It is the masterwork of a truly remarkable author.

Painful to listen to...
Revisado: 11-14-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
It was confusing, not interesting, full of holes, too many names and words that it hard to keep track of. The writer must have been high when he wrote this book.
Would you ever listen to anything by C. J. Cherryh again?
I don't think so
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
There should be multiple narrators to help reduce the confusion.
Was Foreigner worth the listening time?
No - I restarted it several time, and it wasn't any clearer
Any additional comments?
Maybe the other books in the series are better, but I am not encourage to try them.

Worst book I've ever attempted to listen to ...
Revisado: 03-13-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If the story reflected the title...
Would you ever listen to anything by John Ringo again?
I love John Ringo stories, especially his space adventures, but this one threw me for a loop. So yes I would read more of his stories.
Which scene was your favorite?
Just the parts where his wife interjected/translated her side of the story or your opinions.
What character would you cut from The Last Centurion?
All of them.
Any additional comments?
I am so disappointed in this book that I am going to ask for my money back. I read at least five of the chapters, before I couldn't take any more of this crap. I keep asking when will the real story begin...

None of them wanted to leave Earth. It might have been nightmarish, but it was all they knew. Gary wanted to concentrate on his exams in hopes of leaving the CityBlock and its bullies far behind. Kailee wanted to become an actress. Darrin merely wanted to live. But when the three teenagers win a competition, they find themselves taking the trip of a lifetime, a voyage to a colony world where they can see how the colonists live.

Reality check for Mr. Nuttal... This story sucked
Revisado: 05-29-15
What did you like best about Reality Check? What did you like least?
The narration was up to its usual quality.
The story line didn't impress me. I am use to the characters making a huge difference on a cosmic level, but not this time.
What do you think your next listen will be?
The Empire's Corps, Book 8. Hopefully that one will be a better read than this one.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was good, and there was not much not to like.
Do you think Reality Check needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Yes it needs a followup book to hopefully wash away the sour taste that it left in my mouth,
