I really enjoyed this book. It was funny, but the comedy was balanced with hard science and a couple of surprisingly emotional moments. I thought the performance was excellent. The book jumps around a bit, but the actor put enough differences in his performance to avoid confusion. I look forward to more of this story.

The author had a lot of intriguing ideas, but it felt like he couldn't quite settle into the story. The beginning and end of the book were chaotic, jumping from plot point to plot point. I found myself not caring about the outcome. The middle of the story was cohesive, but I didn't really find it as interesting as some of the other threads introduced by the author. As a result, I found myself disappointed in the book. Additionally, a lot of set-up and exposition didn't really pay off. Finally, the women in the story felt like accessories, only important because of how they affected the main character. We never got much insight into their motives, and it felt like they were inconsistent. Overall, the book wasn't bad, it just felt like it contained a lot of wasted potential. The performance was good, and it isn't the performer's fault, but his voice was a bit too soothing and I found it hard to concentrate at times.
