Historia
Invisible No More is a timely examination of how Black women, Indigenous women, and women of color experience racial profiling, police brutality, and immigration enforcement. By placing the individual stories of Sandra Bland, Rekia Boyd, Dajerria Becton, Monica Jones, and Mya Hall in the broader context of the twin epidemics of police violence and mass incarceration, Andrea Ritchie documents the evolution of movements centered around women’s experiences of policing.

Small issue

I hate that the narrator pronounces harassment as hair-ess-ment. This word is used constantly throughout the book and it was grating every time. Otherwise this book is devastating and an extremely important and needed text.

Historia
From 1915 to 1970, this exodus of almost six million people changed the face of America. Wilkerson compares this epic migration to the migrations of other peoples in history. She interviewed more than a thousand people, and gained access to new data and official records, to write this definitive and vividly dramatic account of how these American journeys unfolded, altering our cities, our country, and ourselves.

One of the most important books of American History of this decade, possibly ever written
Revisado: 01-23-20
An amazing detailing and in-depth look at souther black Americans fleeing the racial terror brought upon them in the post slavery south and the new trials and tribulations faced in the north and west. The narration is some of the best I’ve heard in my two years with audible and the performance is good enough that I will continue to revisit in the future. This is such an amazing and important book

Historia
In Oakland, California, in 1966, community college students Bobby Seale and Huey Newton armed themselves, began patrolling the police, and promised to prevent police brutality. Unlike the Civil Rights Movement that called for full citizenship rights for blacks within the US, the Black Panther Party rejected the legitimacy of the US government and positioned itself as part of a global struggle against American imperialism.

While definitely pro or at least sympathetic to the panthers, it offers a comprehensive, detailed look at them from many sides
Revisado: 05-14-18
This book was incredible. I’ve been long interested in the panthers and while this shouldn’t be the only book used when learning about their history, it is by far the most detailed and encapsulating look at their history. It’s not afraid to criticise them which helps offer this book credibility and at least a light impartial-ness to it. The narrator is very good and well enunciated, but his demeanor and inflection is rather monotone which can make long single listens difficult, especially for a book of this length. Overall though, I really loved this book and it’s looked inside one of the most infamous civil rights group of the United States.
