like a broken record
Revisado: 01-29-23
This book was not what I thought it was going to be. it felt like I was hearing the same dialog over and over in whatever situation we found the main characters in. "I will always love you, no matter what, you are my soul mate blah blah blah.."
I had a hard time cheering for David and Kate while he was not showing any integrity having if not a physical affair with Kate while engaged he was certainly having an emotional affair.
I found Kate kind of annoying and both of them selfish. I finally turned up the speed so I could get through the book faster 😉

Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

soft porn
Revisado: 11-18-22
If you are looking for a clean romantic comedy this is not your book, lots of descriptive groping and make-out sessions. I'm sure there was a very descriptive sex scene in there , but I don't know because I didn't get that far.
This could have been a really fun book if there wasn't all the sex . I liked the chemistry between Nora and Charlie. They had my sense of humor , it just wasn't the Hallmark clean story I thought it was.
The lady who read the book did a great job .

Historia
Dawn Dixon can hardly believe she's on a groomless honeymoon on beautiful Cape Cod...with her mother. Sure, Marnie Dixon is good company, but Dawn was supposed to be here with Kevin, the love of her life (or so she thought). Marnie Dixon needs some time away from the absolute realness of life as much as her jilted daughter does, and she's not about to let her only child suffer alone - even if Marnie herself had been doing precisely that for the past month.

Historia
Miss Emma Harlow hasn't earned the reputation as a hoyden for nothing, so when the duke of Trent discovers her in his conservatory stealing one of his orchids, he isn't surprised - charmed, delighted and puzzled, yes, but not surprised. It is Emma who is amazed. But her vexation doesn't last long. For Emma is a practical young lady with a mission: to end her dear sister Lavinia's engagement to the villainous (and dreadfully dull!) Sir Waldo Windbourne, and she thinks that the famous libertine is just the man for the job.

very annoying voice
Revisado: 02-09-22
I didn't finish this book because the narrators voice was annoying and the story was dumb, it just didn't make sense and felt like it was going in circles. Emma was very obnoxious and stupid. there were no characters to root for because they were all selfish , self-centered idiots.

I liked the story okay but I thought the sexul descriptions were too much . the murder investigation was interesting but I was kind of disappointed that it was a premeditated murder, I thought it would have been in self defense 🤷♀️

gag me with a spoon 🤮
Revisado: 09-05-20
I listened to the entire story , though it was painful to do so. There are so many things I didn't like about this story.
Deacon was so "perfect" it made me want to gag every time he spoke. He was so condescending to most everyone he talked to , very holier than thou but in feigned humility. I did not like him at all. He had no substance, no mortal experience, he was just always good? I don't think so. it is very hard to cheer for the protagonist when they have no struggles to overcome, when you don't see their growth, you can't just be perfect that's so stupid...sure in the first chapter he is given a baby that isn't his that takes away his chance at being a pastor, boohoo he famously got over it and became a loving Father but we never see the struggle, so one dimensional.
que Blair and I want to shake her!! The Narrator did her voice a disservice because it made me like her even less. she sounded like an old lady child from the sticks. she always sounded so helpless and dumb when she was around Deacon. If her voice wasn't a deterant her " voice" in the story was super grating. The author liked to portray women as subservient to the men in their lives .
I am a Christian but I disagreed with a lot of the doctrine that Deacon was trying teach , but I guess everyone interprets the Bible differently.
over all I obviously did not like the story and the narration was super hard to listen to.
I would never recommend this author to a friend nor will I ever read books by this author again...it's not very good writing , just gag 🤮
