Historia
By day, 17-year-old Jo Kuan works as a lady's maid for the cruel daughter of one of the wealthiest men in Atlanta. But by night, Jo moonlights as the pseudonymous author of a newspaper advice column for the genteel Southern lady, "Dear Miss Sweetie". When her column becomes wildly popular, she uses the power of the pen to address some of society's ills, but she's not prepared for the backlash that follows when her column challenges fixed ideas about race and gender.

Captivating
Revisado: 06-27-24
The performer and story were captivating. I was quickly drawn in. The story has heart and interesting twists and turns. I really enjoyed the voice the performer have to each character. I looked Jo from the beginning. I also liked that Ms Lee gave depth to many of her characters. I would recommend this book and plan to listen to more books by this author and performer.

A Thrilling Read
Revisado: 04-28-23
My husband and I just finished listening to this book. We really enjoyed it. We enjoyed the pacing and mystery. We liked that Dave wrote it with enough detail to make it interesting without it being graphic, lewd or lots of language. His descriptions of the city made us want to visit there. We really enjoyed that the story was set in a place we don't usually read about. It made us want to learn more about Budapest. We enjoyed the subtle hints to a surprise ending. We have listened to several books with Kirby as the reader and always enjoyed his performance. Kirby's performance on this book was also great. We think this is a great first book and highly recommend it!

Historia
As a once happily married woman, Rebecca Parker lived a charmed life, but now widowed and working for a living, she feels alone and lives a mundane existence. That is until the day a valet speeding by on a horse nearly runs her off the road. Mr. Malcolm Henry is apologetic, gentle, and very handsome. She’s instantly drawn to him, which is why, rather than stopping him from kissing her, she finds herself kissing him back, reigniting a nearly forgotten passion in her. But love at first sight only happens in fairy tales—never to an ordinary woman like her.

Enjoyable Cinderella remake with great twist
Revisado: 06-01-22
I always enjoy Josi Kilpack's books and Justine Eyre's performances. Josie's books always have a clean, sweet romance and a happy ending, but there is always depth to the characters and their life experiences. Their lives are not all rosy but there is hope and goodness. I enjoy fairy tale retellings and love her subtle inclusions of the Cinderella story into the story. Justine Eyre is one of my favorite narrators. She puts just the right emotion and accents, whether it's British or American, that makes the story enjoyable and believable. I would very much recommend this story.

Fascinating Perspective
Revisado: 11-05-21
I enjoyed the historical and religious perspective the author brings to the story. it was interesting to kind of see the Civil War from the perspective of a Southerners. The author presents their perspective in a way that doesn't show them to be correct, that in fact shows the error of their thinking, but also shows them as human beings, real people who were blinded by traditions and prejudices. I was uplifted by the religious insights of the characters, particularly the slave Eli and heroine Caroline. The story was interesting and I also enjoyed the romance.

A fun regency rom-com!
Revisado: 07-23-21
I love Esther Hatch's stories. Her characters and plot are interesting and never feel flat. I love that this is a regency rom-com. It made me giggle several times. And the romance was definitely swoon worthy. I love Sally's strength and Jonathon's bumbling sweetness. The gift he gives Sally when he first proposes is perfect. And Noah Wall always gives a wonderful performance. She is a favorite of mine to listen to. I definitely recommend this book.

Esther Hatch has written another compelling and enjoyable story. I so enjoyed that Lord Bryant finally got his story. I hope there will be more stories following some of the other characters from these "proper" series. And Noah Wall again does a fabulous job performing this book. I definitely recommend this one!

"Mom, Dad, I'm gay." One Facebook message completely changed Becky Mackintosh's life in the blink of an eye. Though she had often wondered about her son Sean when he was young, she had never entertained the possibility that her suspicions could be true. And just like that, battle lines were drawn between siblings, parents, and friends with the church somewhere in the middle. A choice was before the Mackintosh family. Just not the one they were expecting.

Very inspiring, a must read.
Revisado: 11-20-20
I loved listening to this story. It was honest and heartfelt as they shared the ups and downs of their experience. While I do not have a child who is gay I do have nephews, cousins, and children of friends who are. I had read several books from the gay person's perspective and it was interesting and inspiring to hear it from the parent of a gay person's perspective. And really the things they shared about loving and not judging apply to so many situations not just having a family member or friend who is gay. I highly recommend reading or listening to it. And I liked that it was the author, her son and her husband who did the reading. It made the emotion more authentic.

I enjoy reading and listening to stories when by Nancy Allen Campbell. Her characters are interesting, her stories compelling and the love connections swoon worthy. And I enjoy that she tells the story through the heroine's and hero's voice. And Justine Eyre has quickly become one of my favorite performers of audiobooks. I love every story I've listened to her read. Her voice and accents are enthralling and pull me right into the story.
